Dunmore Brothers on KOBA, Club Culture and Trusting Their Instincts [Q&A]

London duo Dunmore Brothers, made up of Louie and Lucas, have spent the past few years tightening their grip on a sound that sits low, loose and floor-first: deep tech movement, old-school swing and the kind of vocal hooks that stick with you long after the party. From early house epiphanies at Defected Croatia, later sharpened by Tulum’s jungle-side party circuit, helped point them toward deeper, more rhythmic territory. 

In 2026, that instinct started landing loudly: “Trust Me,” their Solid Grooves debut with Ben Westbeech, hit #1 on Beatport’s Minimal / Deep Tech chart, while their own KOBA Records has grown into a label and club night. Alongside their DJ-minded BuzzCutz edit series, the brothers are building something with legs and taste.

Having just dropped their new Call Me EP on KOBA, we caught up with the brothers to talk Tulum, Solid Grooves, BuzzCutz, building their own world, family ties, and the two-tracker that properly kicks their label into gear.

You both grew up around music, from Ibiza summers to your dad’s record room. What are some of the earliest sounds, records, or club memories that really shaped the Dunmore Brothers' DNA?

We were fortunate enough to attend the first Defected Croatia in 2016. It was at this point we started to take a serious interest in house music! As we delved deeper, we discovered tracks such as Laolu’s remix of Dele Sosimi’s "Too Much Information" and the Dennis Ferrer remix of Damian Lazarus’ "Fly Away." These were very influential tracks in helping us shape our taste. 

Then in January 2023, we took a trip to Tulum for their party season. It was here that we discovered events such as Day - Zero and CircoLoco at Zamna. The jungle environment brought out a different side in many of the DJs, featuring deep, driving, Latin, and tribal-influenced sounds. It was from this moment that we really felt we knew the direction we wanted to go down. 

 “Trust Me” with Ben Westbeech hit #1 on Beatport’s Minimal / Deep Tech chart. What did that moment mean for you both, especially with it being your Solid Grooves debut?

Solid Grooves has been one of our favourite brands in Ibiza for years! They take such care in their curation and support a diversity of sounds within their lineups. As a brand they are ahead of the trends and are not afraid to take risks musically. Therefore releasing on Solid Grooves was always a dream for us and we never expected it to happen so soon! Receiving support from so many industry trailblazers and seeing people connect so positively with "Trust Me" has been incredible to witness.

Ben Westbeech has such a rich history across house, soul, and UK club culture. How did the collaboration come together, and what did his vocals bring out of the track that wasn’t there before?

Ben has been a family friend for a while. Being a legend of the scene, we had always aimed to have Ben feature on a Dunmore Brothers track but we needed it to be because he loved the music rather than the personal connection we had. One evening Ben came into the studio with the aim just to write a top line for us, but he loved the beat we were playing so jumped straight into the booth to record some vocals! It was a very organic process and the fact that we have that personal connection also has made the release even more special.

Tell us about KOBA, your new label and club night. You’ve said that it was born from a transformative musical experience in Tulum, Mexico. Can you tell us more about that experience and what kind of experience you hope to bring to audiences with KOBA?

Attending the Tulum season in 2023 we witnessed DJs fully influenced by the environment they were placed in. With parties being outdoors and in a jungle environment, we heard some of our favourite DJs play sets completely different from how you would hear them in London or in Ibiza, taking much deeper and more rhythmic approaches. KOBA embodies that philosophy and we aim for it to be a space where producers and DJs can express their sound freely given the environment they are in.

 The BuzzCutz series feels very DJ-minded: free SoundCloud edits, cult records, stripped-back club tools. What sparked the idea, and how do you decide which tracks are worth reworking?

Indeed it is for the DJs! There are a lot of tracks we love listening to and have in our playlists but unfortunately aren’t always able to fit them into our sets. Therefore, Buzzcutz was created! Sometimes we felt the track needed a slight re-edit, other times it might need a more uniform layout, or alternatively we just wanted to put our own spin on it.

When you’re digging for edits or club tools, what’s the ultimate “Dunmore Brothers test” that makes a track worthy of getting played out?

Ultimately, there is a feeling you get when you know a track represents you. We like many different styles of music, especially within house music. But the question we ask ourselves is: does it represent the Dunmore Brothers' brand and musical direction? You also have to picture yourself vibing to the track behind the decks and think about where it would fit within your sets.

What’s one track, old or new, that instantly makes both of you pull the same “we need this in the set” face?

A go to track for us has always been "God Sent" by Cajmere & Jamie Principle. The instrumental is very underground but the vocal in it is so uplifting and euphoric. Therefore it’s always a track we like to fit into our set, regardless of the audience or the environment. If played at the right moment, it's always a winner!

CALL ME marks the first release on your new label KOBA, and it started with a vocal sample you found in an old Kenny Dope remix of B.Original & Damir Pushkar’s “Call Me.” What was it about J.A.M.O.N’s vocal that grabbed you, and how did you know this was the right track to kick off the label?

J.A.M.O.N’s style has a very unique delivery embodying a great balance between a seductive & sexy vocal but with energy. We often love sampling old vocals for their fearless and unique approach. This combined with the hooks and lyrics grabbed our attention immediately. Having flipped it into a deep tech record, it isn't always the easiest track to fit into a DJ set, but its uniqueness and quirk are exactly what we are looking to achieve at KOBA. 

What's next, and what are you most looking forward to this summer?

Our aim for 2026 has been to launch KOBA as an events brand and now a record label. Additionally we want to have a consistent output of music from our camp. With the Call Me EP out now, we're looking to follow it up with another new track of ours, "MIA," coming in early August. We are really excited to push our sound out to the world and carve a lane for ourselves in the industry we love.
