A former Chase Bank branch in San Francisco’s Mission District will reopen this fall as Hidden Frequency, a new experimental music venue hosting live DJ sets and listening sessions. The venue is the latest venture from Naz Khorram, the owner and operator of neighboring wine bar Arcana, located at 2512 Mission Street, according to Mission Local.
Khorram, who currently curates a weekly Thursday live music series at Arcana, will expand this vision at Hidden Frequency. The desert-themed venue will feature a single listening room designed for intimate DJ sets and performances from local musicians and visual artists. Although the site has sat vacant since November 2024, it underwent renovations prior to its closure. While Hidden Frequency’s capacity has yet to be determined, the former bank reportedly welcomed more than 200 visitors on its busiest days.
Khorram, who filed for Hidden Frequency’s entertainment permit in June, compared the venue’s purpose and intended programming to that of other San Francisco music and arts-focus nonprofit organizations, including The Lab, an experimental arts collective known for championing traditionally underrepresented artists; Gray Area, a cultural incubator that organizes exhibitions and performances at the intersection of art and technology; and Envelop SF, an immersive listening space housed within The Midway.
