What do vintage hypnosis tapes, nearly 200-year-old Frédéric Chopin compositions, and recent Zeds Dead productions have in common? They’re all sampled on Return to the Return (of the Spectrum of Intergalactic Happiness), the accompaniment to Zeds Dead’s 2025 album, Return To The Spectrum Of Intergalactic Happiness, surprise released via Deadbeats on June 30.

The new LP expands on its predecessor across 14 tracks, including several that answer songs from the first project, like “Angel 2,” “Heartbeat Interlude,” “Transmission 39-6655,” and “Transmission 105-2052.” While Return To The Spectrum Of Intergalactic Happiness was a completely solo affair, the follow-up is open to collaborations, with appearances from CUT, Scratch Bastid, Jem Cooke, and Kerli.

“The initial Return to the Spectrum felt like the birth of a new era for us. We hadn’t written a proper full-length project in almost 10 years, and a lot had happened in that time—ups and downs, soul searching, creative experiements, COVID. We knew we wanted to throw ourselves fully into another project, but the timing had to reveal itself. When it did, it felt right,” Zeds Dead said in a press release.

“With this album, we’re continuing on the same path we started then. Returning to it, if you will.”

Although the duo maintains that “The most important thing for us was how we approached making this record,” noting that the process was not about “what might work best at a show” or crafting the perfect single, their third full-length is flanked by their largest headline tour of their career yet, aptly titled Journey of a Lifetime.

The 12-date run kicks off with two sold-out shows at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre from July 2–3 – a venue that sets the tone for the tour’s remaining stops, nine of which also take place at amphitheaters. The live experience takes an Eras Tour format, pulling from every era of Zeds Dead’s catalog as the production pair celebrate 15 years of their artist project and prepare for a hiatus in 2027.

Support will vary by city and includes ALLEYCVT, Daily Bread, Deathpact, Dr. Fresch, IMANU, Ivy Lab, Mary Droppinz, Moody Good, and Whethan. Tickets are available via Zeds Dead’s website.

Return to the Return (of the Spectrum of Intergalactic Happiness) is out now via Deadbeats.
