Aluna, Riordan, AlunaGeorge, Caleb Laurenson, Danny P (IRL) - Best Be Believing

More than 10 years since AlunaGeorge solidified their status as one of the UK’s most influential electronic voices with their debut album, Body Music, one of its standout songs gets a second wind courtesy of Riordan, Danny P, and Caleb Laurenson. Complete with freshly re-recorded vocals from Aluna, the posse’s spin on “Best Be Believing” offers a new perspective on the track and its celebrated 2014 remix from Shadow Child. It’s buoyant and upbeat – a bolt of feel-good energy and a reminder that dance music is at its most fun when it doesn’t take itself too seriously. 

Gorgon City - Work It Out

Gorgon City “Work It Out” on a cut that’s been humming on dance floors across the country, from their sold-out show in Los Angeles in May (which drew 9,000-plus fans to Reframe Studios Outdoors in May) to their sunrise set at Bonnaroo last weekend. While the venues have varied, reactions have been consistent: body work and complete immersion in the moment – the most resounding proof of impact. 

“Work It Out” lands via REALM Records with UKG and bassline flavor and Gorgon City’s signature finesse.

Kiimi, I.JORDAN - Lose My Mind

When the “sun-kissed shores of Ibiza” are the muse, the resulting track is destined to be a blissed-out Balearic moment sustained by live-for-the-weekend energy in an endless summer spent on the dance floor. Kiimi and I.JORDAN's “Lose My Mind” hits the mark, burying the dart in the bullseye. Together, they channel the White Isle’s glimmering coast into a piano-threaded house tune anchored by a sweetly-sung and all-too-relatable hook: “I wanna lose my mind, lose my mind.” 

In a press release, I. JORDAN and Kiimi cite euphoria and empowerment, respectively, as their guiding principles in making music. No wonder losing your mind never felt so good. 

“Lose My Mind” is the title track from Kiimi’s forthcoming two-song EP, marking their debut release on HE.SHE.THEY. Records.

IDEMI - Like An Angel (Touch Me) / Word Play

IDEMI’s tear continues with a twofer that plays with texture, juxtaposing the airy, supple essence of “Like An Angel” with the spry lyrical work, weighty thump, and sharper edge of “Word Play.” The London-based duo says it cycled through several different sounds before “returning to an old idea that felt most IDEMI” in an effort to “bring listeners back to our world of ethereal, euphoric house.”

That vision pays off on a release that adds further definition to IDEMI’s bright, feeling-forward fingerprint. We have a feeling it’ll soon be all over the dance/electronic circuit, and the British-Chinese producers’ first North American tour is a step in that direction. Like An Angel (Touch Me) / Word Play lands amid it, with shows in Washington, DC, Toronto, and Chicago still to come.

V/A - Ten Year of On Loop Vol. 1

Moxie marks 10 years of her On Loop imprint with Ten Years of On Loop Vol. 1, the first half of a two-part compilation that gets straight to the point: reliable, uplifting house music with no fuss and magnetic groove running front to back. The 10-track release leans into the warmer, festival-facing side of the label, keeping house at its core while pulling in flashes of UK garage, Italo sparkle, dubby pressure, and low-end club heat. The artists tapped are a dream team from the underground circuit, with CC:DISCO!, K-Lone, Retromigration, Isaac Carter, Midas Field, Make A Dance, and more all in the fold. On Loop has always felt like an extension of Moxie’s ears: generous, curious, and built around dancers. Ten years in, the label still sounds wide open.

Patrick Topping, Layton Giordani, Kosmo Kint - Tonight

Label: MADMINDS

“Tonight” moves so sleekly that it’s hard to believe Layton Giordani hasn’t always operated in the 129 BPM vicinity. The balmy cut marks the MADMINDS label head’s first house release – an outcome that feels inevitable considering Patrick Topping’s involvement. After playing scores of b2bs together over the years, the producers extend their creative partnership beyond the booth on their debut collaboration, with sensual vocals from one of house music's most essential singer-songwriters, Kosmo Kint. 

“I think we were very much on the same wavelength for this one,” Topping says in a press release.

Rivo, Marten Lou - Technicolor 

Genre: Melodic House & Techno

Marten Lou and Rivo master the art of tension and release on “Technicolor,” an enthralling single born from their b2b at the Greenfields afterparty in Munich last July. Both artists have cultivated a reputation for painting from a broad palette of emotion in their productions – Lou from a deep and melodic house perspective, and RIVO, with melodic techno and Afro House sensibilities. “Technicolor” finds them meeting somewhere in the middle for a stirring collaboration that’ll shine especially bright in sunrise and sunset slots.

Shimza, Demayä, Jnr SA, Thatohatsi - Sunset In Pretoria

Genre: Afro House
Label: Kunye

A voice memo Demayä shared in the days leading up to the release of “Sunset In Pretoria” characterizes the record as a dream fulfilled. 

“I wish we had more time together in South Africa…It went so fast. I had the time of my life,” he tells Shimza. “I don’t know if this could be part of your project, but man, for me, it will be such an honor to do a track with you, and I will be the happiest if we are working on something together.”

As the title track of Shimza’s new three-track EP, “Sunset In Pretoria” actualizes Demayä’s aspiration to work with the Kunye founder, pairing the fast-rising French producer, known for his worldly, organic sound, with one of Afro House’s foremost talents. Their debut collaboration unfurls in a rhythmically rich ebb and flow that builds fluidly into the energetic “Uma Wami” with Jnr SA and Thatohatsi, and “Entle,” the piercing solo production with which Shimza draws the project to a close.

Solardo - Tribesmen (10 Years On Remix)

Solardo return to Hot Creations with “Tribesmen (10 Years On Remix),” revisiting the track that gave the Manchester duo their first-ever Beatport #1 and helped shove them into the wider clubland conversation. In 2016, “Tribesmen” was not just another big record; it was one of those tracks that DJs rinsed because it caught you by your hips and refused to let go. Ten years later, Solardo do not mess with the bones of the original. They keep the vocal where it belongs, tighten the drums, weigh down the bass, bump up the BPM, and unleash acid touches around its edges. The track feels supercharged: back on Hot Creations, back with the record that changed their lives, back in the rotation and injected with a fresh sense of urgent delight.
