Black Hole Recordings New Releases - Week 24

This week’s selection looks both backward and forward at the same time. From Trance sounds that recall the early 2010s and classic Tech-Trance energy reimagined for modern dancefloors, to sun-soaked Afro-House grooves, progressive reworks, and dream-filled vocal records, these releases prove that familiar sounds can still find new ways to surprise us.

Just a week after the original release, “Embers” returns in the hands of York, who takes Christian Burns and Banaati’s heartfelt collaboration in a more progressive Trance direction. While preserving the emotion at the core of the song, York layers in driving percussion, sweeping atmospheres, and shimmering melodies that steadily increase the sense of anticipation.

Over the course of nine minutes, York carefully develops the track, letting its vocals, chord progressions and atmosphere unfold naturally while adding his own progressive touch.

If you spent any time listening to trance and EDM in the early 2010s, “Can’t Let You Go” will feel instantly familiar. Hel:sløwed and MIDI Kittyy tap into that era’s magic with shimmering synths, uplifting melodies, and a vocal that feels like it was made for late-night drives, festival sunsets, and repeat listens.

What makes the track so enjoyable is that it never feels like a throwback for the sake of nostalgia. Instead, it captures the feeling of that era - the optimism, the passion, and those hooks that seemed to get stuck in your head for days, while giving it a fresh, modern polish.

Lange’s “All Around Me” returns to the hands of Ferry Tayle, who gives the track a fresh, uplifting trance perspective without losing sight of what made it special in the first place. Betsie Larkin's unmistakable vocals remain the thread that ties everything together, carrying the same warmth and sentiment that made the original so memorable.

Rather than reinventing the track, Ferry Tayle gradually builds around it, adding more drive, energy, and lift while letting the feeling at the core of the song remains front and center. It's a reminder that sometimes the strongest Trance records are also the simplest.

"Zamani" started after Vareso and SaxBeatz crossed paths at a shared event, where Vareso was instantly impressed by the duo’s live saxophone performance. That meeting eventually led to this groove-driven Afro-House collaboration, blending hypnotic vocals, rolling rhythms, and the saxophone melody that gives the track its unique character.

Described by the artists as a meeting point between Afro-House and tech-inspired sounds, “Zamani” unfolds like a tropical journey. Heartfelt, atmospheric, and easy to get lost in, it balances dancefloor energy with a relaxed, sun-soaked feel.

Frankyeffe and ReOrder turn the clock back on “Fatal Signal”, channeling the driving spirit of classic Tech-Trance through a modern hard trance lens. Built around pounding kicks, relentless energy, and razor-sharp synth work, the track wastes little time getting down to business, pushing forward at a fierce 145 BPM pace. Fast, energetic, and unapologetically intense, it captures the rush of classic Trance while delivering the weight and punch expected from today’s harder sounds. Beneath its driving exterior, however, there's a strong melodic core that adds an emotional edge to the track, balancing power with feeling in a way that feels true to both artists.

When Black Hole decided to include the track on my upcoming EP, we felt it was the perfect time to bring ReOrder into the project. ‘Fatal Signal’ genuinely represents the musical meeting point between Frankyeffe and ReOrder.

Solarstone and Orkidea open a new chapter in the long-running Pure Trance series with Pure Trance XI (DJ Sampler), offering a taste of what’s to come with the full compilation. Bringing together fresh productions, underground favorites, and the unmistakable sound that has defined the series for over a decade, the sampler captures the spirit of modern Trance while staying true to its roots.

What makes this release particularly special is the reunion between Solarstone and Orkidea, who return as co-mixers for the first time since the original Pure Trance volume. Blending progressive depth, uplifting moments, and seamless transitions, Pure Trance XI continues the series’ tradition of showcasing tracks that become even more powerful when experienced as part of a larger mix.

JES invites listeners to dream a little bigger on “We Could Be Stardust”, a free-spirited housy track built around hope, possibility, and the idea that we’re capable of becoming far more than we imagine. Guided by her unmistakable vocals, the song floats effortlessly between rich piano lines, gentle grooves, and a dreamy atmosphere that feels both comforting and inspiring.

At a time when so much music is focused on escaping, “We Could Be Stardust” feels more like an invitation to believe. Light, uplifting, and full of heart, it captures the sense of freedom and self-discovery that sits at the core of JES’s upcoming album, reminding listeners that sometimes the biggest limits are the ones we place on ourselves.
