Charles D mints debut Truesoul release 'One Time For Your Mind'
Touches of electro, hard house, tech house and hi-NRG.
After a string of standout releases on Drumcode, Charles D lands on little brother label Truesoul for the first time with new single ‘One Time For Your Mind’.
The New York artist steps outside his usual peak-time techno framework on a track that draws on a broad palette of influences. Touches of rave, electro, hard house and Hi-NRG combine across a rolling groove-driven production that showcases another side of his sound while retaining the energy that has made him a fixture in Adam Beyer’s sets.
According to Charles D, the track emerged from a desire to inject more personality into his DJ sets while reconnecting with the sounds that shaped him as a producer.
This record came from wanting to inject a bit more fun and personality into my sets. I’ve always lived in the peak-time techno world, but over the last year, I’ve been experimenting with bringing in some of the electro and tech house influences that I grew up with, while still keeping everything rooted in a sound that feels authentic to me. I remember sending it to Adam and seeing him play it almost immediately at Elrow.
Watching the crowd react was one of those moments where I knew the track was doing exactly what I hoped it would do.
