Mike Momburg Joins Forces with Coco Star to Reimagine the Iconic ‘I Need A Miracle’

Musical Freedom’s current run of dancefloor anthems continues to evolve, this time diving deep into electronic music heritage. The label has officially welcomed German DJ, producer, and label boss Mike Momburg alongside the legendary singer-songwriter Coco Star for a brand-new, contemporary rendition of her timeless classic, "I Need A Miracle."

The original track holds a unique and legendary place in dance music history. First released in the late '90s, Coco Star’s powerful, gospel-infused vocal became an instant global phenomenon, most famously fueling the chart-topping mashup "Toca's Miracle." Coco Star's unmistakable voice remained highly sought after by house music tastemakers. Having previously teamed up with heavyweights like Fedde Le Grand and Dannic, Coco Star now brings her definitive vocal power to Musical Freedom for another fresh chapter.

Stepping up to deliver the modern framework is Mike Momburg. Since launching his career in 2018, the prolific artist has built a reputation within the circuit, gracing the booths of underground hotspots like Madrid's Mondo Disko, PRST in Vienna, Melbourne's Revolver Upstairs, and Cologne's Gewölbe. As the driving force behind the imprint and event series SOUND SOUND, which has released music from the likes of Kolter, Jesse Maas and Dennis Quin, Mike is renowned for blending bouncy 90s cuts with the punch and flair of contemporary UK House.

Over the last year, this track has evolved far beyond anything I initially imagined. What started out as a DJ tool paying homage to CoCo’s timeless vocals, has led to us collaborating on our own version of the record - which still feels crazy to me.

The support the track has received from fellow DJs over the past year, alongside the reaction online leading up to the release, has been incredible. It’s been a real honour putting my own modern spin on such an iconic record together, and I'm really excited to finally get this one out there
