Skrillex Serves Up "Thistle" With Randomer, Blawan, and MC Dricka Ahead of CONTRA

The news of Skrillex’s involvement with CONTRA, the new platform and event series debuting with a two-day festival at Kraftwerk Berlin on May 30-31, heralded new music. It arrives like clockwork, landing right in time for the affair that’ll draw more than 70 artists, including BNYX, Flowdan, ISOxo, Knock2, Slim Soledad, and Tresor, produced in partnership with Berlin Atonal. 

Cue “Thistle.” The longtime ID with Swiss Army Knife Randomer, CONTRA headliner Blawan, and MC Dricka has been in circulation since 2022, marking yet another elusive Skrillex track that’s gotten its wings this year. After teasing "Thistle" to subscribers of his email list about 48 hours before its release, Skrillex officially delivers the number via OWSLA / Atlantic.

The punchy single cuts straight to the action its limitless and propulsive energy careening forward like a car without brakes. While “Thistle” already popped off at Exit Festival 2023, it feels primed to hit with even greater force at CONTRA’s premiere at the former power plant. Listen below.

“Thistle” arrives on the heels of Portola Festival's 2026 lineup, led by Skrillex and Boys Noize's alias Dog Blood. Their set at the San Francisco fête, which returns to Pier 80 from September 26–27, will be their first performance since HARD Day of the Dead 2019.
