Black Hole Recordings New Releases - Week 21

A selection of this week’s standout releases across the dancefloor.

2021 09 09 DJ RICHARD DURAND50996

This week’s picks move between nostalgia and forward-thinking experimentation, balancing uplifting trance emotion with hypnotic grooves, cinematic electronica, and modern club energy. From old-school melodies and euphoric breakdowns to genre-blurring album concepts, these releases prove trance continues evolving without losing the feeling that made people fall in love with it in the first place.

Richard Durand - Muratie

Richard Durand returns with “Muratie”, a 138 BPM journey that instantly pulls you in with African-inspired vocal touches and subtle psy-trance energy, before unfolding into a simple yet deeply effective old-school trance melody. There’s a nostyalgic warmth running through the track, but the production keeps it firmly connected to today’s dancefloors. Instead of going full peak-time, “Muratie” takes a more hypnotic route. Rolling grooves, and darker melodic techno influence gives the track a modern edge without losing its trance soul.

Push - Feel The Underground

Push’s “Feel The Underground” sounds like it was pulled straight out of a late-2000s Trance set in the best possible way. Psy-trance influenced grooves and long emotional breaks slowly stretch the tension before bright synth riffs take over, while the bassline keeps the entire track driving forward from start to finish. The repetitive vocal hook adds to that classic hypnotic feeling, and unlike many modern productions chasing melodic techno crossover appeal, “Feel The Underground” stays committed to its uplifting trance identity.

The track also reflects the wider vision behind Push’s upcoming ‘Known Universe’ album. Inspired by the spirit of his early From Beyond era, the project sees Push reconnecting with the hardware-driven electronic sound he has always been known for, while continuing to explore different corners of the trance spectrum.

Daniel Wanrooy & JES - We'll Be Together (C-Systems Remix)

With this remix C-System delivers everything uplifting vocal trance fans could ask for. Built around one of the most recognizable and beautiful voices in the genre, the remix leans fully into emotion, letting JES’ timeless vocals float across warm melodies and soaring synth layers. It’s the kind of track that makes you close your eyes and drift far away during the breakdown, before the fast-paced drums and uplifting energy come crashing back in with full force, hitting both body and soul at once.

We wanted to retain the emotion of the original while bringing it into a proper peak-time trance setting. Keeping space for JES’ incredible vocal was really important to us, while making sure the melody carried enough impact for the dancefloor. We actually revisited the main riff multiple times during club testing until it hit exactly the way we wanted.

Somna, Monika Santucci - Destiny

At first, Somna’s “Destiny” with Monika Santucci feels like the kind of emotional vocal trance track you instantly sink into. Monika’s voice carries the whole intro with a soft, almost nostalgic feeling that makes you expect a huge uplifting payoff. But then the track starts opening in different directions. Underneath the emotional core, there’s a pop-dance structure, touches of drum & bass energy, and flashes of trance woven into the production. Instead of staying predictable, “Destiny” keeps evolving, a perfect reflection of Somna’s upcoming Pathways album, a project designed to explore different sides of his artistry beyond traditional genre boundaries.

’Destiny’ marks my second collaboration with Monika Santucci. The track came together naturally through constant back-and-forth creativity and a shared excitement to keep pushing it further with every session. We’ve also been playing it live over the past six months in cities like Calgary, Dallas, San Diego, and San Francisco, and it’s been incredible seeing the crowd reactions firsthand.

BT - Metaversal (Lunar Mode)

With “Night Mode” and “Lunar Mode”, BT continues expanding the world of “Metaversal” far beyond the idea of a traditional album. Built around evolving electronica soundscapes, cinematic atmospheres, ambient textures, and progressive influences, the project constantly shifts between comforting introspection and darker futuristic energy. Paired with immersive visuals, cryptography, blockchain technology, and hidden fan experiences, ‘Metaversal’ feels less like a release and more like a living digital universe shaped entirely by BT’s forward-thinking creativity.

My hope was to create an immersive experience that invited friends and fans into the expanse of a new internet, sparking a future where creators thrive on merit, meaning, and a profound, resonant connection with their audience.
