The Vinyl Revolution Nobody Saw Coming
elasticStage has signed up over 100,000 creators since October 2024 by doing something the industry said couldn't be done: making vinyl as easy to release as uploading a track online.

Physical music is back, and anyone who's spent time in a record shop lately already knows it. But for independent artists, DJs and producers, getting your music pressed and into fans' hands has always come with a familiar headache: upfront costs, minimum orders, and waiting months for a run that might not even sell out.
elasticStage is fixing that. The London-based platform is the world's first on-demand vinyl and CD service built specifically for music creators, and the story behind it matters. Co-founders Steve Rhodes and Werner Freistaetter are not tech entrepreneurs who stumbled into the music industry. Werner sold over two million records with Sony Music as Unique 2, later founding Vinyl Carvers, a boutique London operation that became the go-to for small and single-copy vinyl runs. Steve owned Alpha Centauri Recording, a studio whose client list ran from Kanye West and U2 to Depeche Mode and The Verve. These are two people who understood exactly where the system was broken before they set out to rebuild it.
Launched in October 2024 and already trusted by over 100,000 creators, the platform's model is straightforward. You upload your tracks and artwork, set your price, and your release goes live with its own storefront. No manufacturing costs, no inventory, no financial risk before you've sold a single copy. You earn between 20 and 50 percent depending on what price you set your vinyl at and how many units you sell.
Every elasticStage record and CD is high-quality, commercial-grade and made to order, produced only when a fan actually buys it, with no minimum runs and no unsold stock. Like most fan-focused releases, these are made for personal listening rather than professional DJ use: beautifully produced editions your audience can own, display and play at home. Every title runs through a single automated workflow, which is exactly what makes on-demand vinyl possible for any release. However, records built for the club are given specialist, release-by-release mastering to maximise loudness and tracking on a loud system. So while an elasticStage record will sound excellent on a home turntable, it is not intended as a club performance format, and a DJ may find it behaves differently to vinyl mastered specifically for the booth.
Traditional pressing typically demands thousands of pounds upfront and three to six months lead time. elasticStage turns that around in 20 working days and ships direct to fans in over 90 countries worldwide. Releases are also chart eligible in the UK and Republic of Ireland, which is not a small detail for labels and A&Rs paying attention.
The roster already speaks for itself. Boy George, Don Diablo and Nelly Furtado are on the platform, alongside GRAMMY-winning producers Paul Epworth and Dan Grech-Marguerat. Most recently, elasticStage partnered with Lewis Capaldi on his mystery vinyl drop, a creative stunt that placed anonymous pitched-down records in stores across the UK and US before he revealed himself as the artist behind the release.
One more thing worth mentioning: the platform uses PETG instead of traditional PVC, making it a cleaner option for creators who care about their environmental footprint.
If you've been sitting on a release waiting for the right moment or the right budget, head to elasticStage and start now.
