Armin van Buuren Celebrates 25 Years of 'A State of Trance' with Sprawling Album
For the first time since 2006, the series moves away from its long-standing On the Beach, In the Club and Who's Afraid of 138?! format, with three new mix segments.

Armin van Buuren is celebrating 25 years of A State of Trance with tradition: a new album.
The staggering 43-track compilation, he says, “reflects where trance is today and where it’s heading” across three new themes—Pulse, Frequency, and Energy—that deviate from the series’ longstanding segments, On the Beach, In the Club, and Who’s Afraid of 138?! for the first time since 2006. Featuring van Buuren’s new collaborations with Argy, Andrew Bayer, and Skytech, alongside records from Max Styler, Joris Voorn, and more, Pulse plays like a party. The 14-track set closes with “Serendipity,” the Piano album maker’s recent melodic meet-up with Bayer, which arrived on May 7 as the prelude to A State of Trance 2026 with stirring vocals from Delilah Montagu.
Frequency keeps the momentum high and mainstage-oriented with selections like van Buuren, Richard Durand, and Dicosis’ 2026 A State of Trance anthem, “Always You.” Following a steady warm-up period, Energy shifts gears, hitting the gas on a more emphatic, driving brand of trance that spikes heart rates with van Buuren and Lilly Palmer’s “Dopamine Machine,” RIVER’s “All Day, All Night,” and KI/KI’s “5AM.”

“Reaching 25 years of A State of Trance is something I could have only dreamed of when I started the show,” says Armin van Buuren. “I’m proud to release another album this year whilst celebrating the brand’s 25-year anniversary and the music that makes all this possible.”
A State of Trance 2026 - Mixed by Armin van Buuren is out now via A State of Trance.
