Assaf Michael delivers a Latin-infused cut, in collaboration with Reef Kopel, on Maccabi House
With “Montanita,” Assaf Michael & Reef Kopel deliver a feel-good, groove-led cut shaped by real moments and lived experience.

Born during a South American tour, the track draws directly from time spent immersed in Latin music; from clubs to streets to radio, naturally influencing its rhythm, movement, and overall energy.
Built around layered percussive textures and a dembow-inspired bassline, the track carries a fluid, infectious bounce from the outset. Latin-inspired percussion, shakers, and rhythmic elements form the foundation, while a Spanish vocal; a dialogue between a man and a woman, adds a human, expressive touch that lifts the mood. Subtle melodic details and evolving electronic layers were later introduced, creating a balance between organic warmth and refined production.
The track first came to life during a spontaneous beach session in Montanita, where the initial idea was captured on a laptop, a moment where everything aligned naturally. From there, it evolved into a fuller piece, with deeper leads and additional textures adding a more club-focused dimension, while still preserving its free-flowing character.
“Montanita” moves effortlessly between uplifting, open-air energy and tighter, groove-driven moments suited for late-night floors. It’s smooth, hypnotic, and highly danceable, making it a record that connects through rhythm while maintaining a strong sense of identity.
Marking their first joint release on Maccabi House, the track reflects the long-standing connection between Assaf Michael & Reef Kopel. Rooted in a shared journey and shaped by real environments, “Montanita” is designed to live across settings; from sunset sessions to deeper, after-hours spaces.
