Heart Racing: The Influences

When ALIGN and Babsy got into the studio together, the music that resonated with them over the years wasn't far from the room. Heart Racing grew out of that shared love. The future bass era they both came up in, the songs that blurred the line between heavy and melodic, the tracks that still feel alive no matter how many times you've heard them. 

This playlist is a look inside that headspace: 5 songs that quietly shaped the session, and the feeling behind the track.

One of our early inspirations in electronic music. This song has a vibe that stays completely timeless. This one constantly provides inspiration to tap into, as well as ideas that can be brought into new music.

We sat and listened to this song in the studio the day we made our song Heart Racing. Listening back to this song pulled up so many feelings from this previous era of music that inspired both of us. We're such fans of melodic music and heavy music that finding songs that have blended both ideas, then blending both ideas into our own song was an awesome experience.

This track is a favorite and helped us to reimagine that 2016 future bass feeling through a modern lens with atmospheric builds that hit just as hard as the drop.

The balance of a melodic song with a full chorus full of synths hypnotized us and has been something on repeat for a long time now.

The sound design feels detailed and it has this warm but melancholic energy. An upbeat one that we've loved for a long time now and is something that has definitely shaped our song writing experiences over the years.
