Who Are You? by Lex Looper out now on Bass n Babes Records!
Dubstep for Your Next Identity Crisis.

Bass n Babes Records is the premier label for all things queer and femme bass music. After a successful launch last year, Bass n Babes Records is making waves this year with its second single release: “Who Are You?” by Lex Looper. This is the second of a series of singles set to be released this spring, leading up to Bass n Babes takeover at The Untz Festival in early May.
We have all had those moments of introspection on the journey of finding ourselves. Lex Looper’s “Who Are You?” translates that unsettling experience into a mysterious soundscape of rugged basslines and industrial percussion. Inspired by the likes of rSUN, Wraz and Ganja White Night, this blend of dubstep, deep dub and UK bass showcases the darker, moodier, and introspective facets of Lex Looper’s identity that fuel her journey of self-discovery.
LA-based non-binary artist Lex Looper found a home in the underground bass scene after exploring the sounds of lo-fi, rock, and pop. Now, with 15 years of music production under her belt and an audio engineering degree to show for it, she is determined to make a mark with greater purpose and production prowess.
Lex’s sound comprises a dynamic mix of a variety of bass music sub-genres, including everything from Deep Dubstep to Breaks to UK Garage to DnB to Downtempo. She fuses grimy basslines and rugged drums with deeply meaningful sound bites to express herself in both original productions and DJ sets. Lex strives to create tunes that embody the queer experience in a time where LGBTQ+ representation is so desperately needed. Lex Looper is a founder of Bass n Babes Records, graphic designer and mastering engineer for the label, and a dedicated advocate for inclusivity in the bass music scene.
Catch Lex Looper’s next festival set at The Untz Festival May 8-10 in Northern California!
