Last year, we shared on Beatportal a bit of what SoundSisters Morocco is and why the project exists: not to “open a path” from scratch, because there has long been a rich, vibrant scene here, but to help create accessibility. The idea has always been to be a platform that lowers barriers and brings music production closer to women who, for many reasons, still felt that entering this world was “too hard” or out of reach.

Now, this story has entered a new chapter: we were selected for the Ballantine’s True Music Fund in 2025, and we used that support to build a training and mentorship program with a clear structure, continuity, and real follow-through. That boost was essential to turn intention into routine, and routine into tangible progress.

With the True Music Fund, we were able to set up a full support cycle focused on music production, with a simple, clear design: access, consistency, mentorship, and outcomes.
At the core of the program was a free training opportunity for women starting from zero, creating a space where participants could learn, experiment, make mistakes, try again, and develop their own creative language with time and support.

The 45 hours were fully dedicated to music production and organized into three mentorship blocks, with a group of 12 women selected to learn for free.
Each mentor led 15 hours of guidance:

  • ReqTeq (15h)
  • Rita Loujdia (15h)
  • Rita Soko (15h)

This format was designed to build technical foundations, but also artistic direction and confidence, because producing isn’t just about mastering tools. It’s about making decisions, standing behind your choices, and building a sound that truly makes sense for the person creating it.

After these 45 hours, the group moved into the final phase: finishing and polishing the musical projects that will become part of an EP.

For this stage, three additional mentors joined the team, bringing critical listening and guidance for the final stretch:

  • Cheb Runner
  • La Dame
  • Daox

This is the phase where ideas become finished tracks: adjustments, structure, mixing, sonic coherence, and final decisions, so the release reflects both the process and the level of work these artists have reached.

The EP we’ll release in 2026 is the direct result of this cycle: 45 hours of music production mentorship, plus the final-stage support that consolidates the projects developed throughout the program.

We’re working hard to make it happen the right way. Stay tuned for what’s coming next.

We’d like to offer a special thank you to the she said so team, who have been consistently supportive and available, to the Ballantine’s team for their support, and to Stranger Souma, who mentored us throughout the project. You helped make something real that, for many people, still felt distant: turning access into reality.
