Coco & Breezy Get Personal on Meditative New EP, 'Free'

Free is Coco & Breezy’s first EP, but there’s nothing green about this project, where “every word is medicine” and “every rhythm is a reminder,” as the twins state in a lulling harmony in Free’s intro. “This music,” they say, “is a journey for your spirit.”

Indeed, it is. Across its intro, interlude, and outro, with six tracks that radiate presence and perspective in between, Free sets and sustains a high vibration built on self-love, trust, belief, an understanding of one’s own power, and acceptance. These universal motifs create points of connection for listeners from just about every walk of life, but the EP’s resonance stems not from its relatability but from its authenticity. 

Free was born during a 2022 trip to Costa Rica, where Coco & Breezy went off the grid and deep inside themselves to grieve the loss of their father. The mantras and truths that span the project gave the Beatport Next 2023 alums clarity and purpose amid a loss significant enough to spark their own rebirth. 

“Our Free EP feels like a diary in songs that are different chapters of our healing journey and just our lives,” the sisters shared on Instagram.

Free is full of concepts meant to be lived in practice, and Coco & Breezy’s five-city Free Your Soul tour will give fans the chance to take those ideas beyond the headphones the twins encourage them to use to listen to the EP. Starting in Los Angeles on March 6, the run will bring two-part shows to Chicago, Brooklyn, and San Francisco, opening with an intentional wellness experience, followed by Coco & Breezy’s performance.

“Wellness and nightlife sit at the center of our lives, and we’ve always dreamed of bringing those worlds together in a real way,” they say. “This tour is a new concept and an initial limited run, something completely different than anything we’ve done before. This is us sharing both sides of our lives and inviting you into that experience.”
