Ben Norderfeld unveils first electronic/ambient album

Ben Norderfeld, the electronic/ambient music project of acclaimed Dutch producer Benno de Goeij, releases his very first solo album that invites listeners to slow down, breathe, and drift into immersive sonic environments. Known for his expansive contributions to electronic music, de Goeij uses Ben Norderfeld as a more introspective outlet one rooted in emotion, atmosphere, and mindful listening.

Drawing on decades of experience in trance and progressive music, he distills that knowledge into slow evolving textures, minimalist compositions, and cinematic soundscapes. Using simple melodies influenced by the natural world, memory, and subtle emotional shifts of everyday life, the album bridges emotion with space, evoking stillness while allowing time to stretch and dissolve.

His own view: “Being in the music industry for so many years, I’ve always felt a certain pressure in delivering music that needs to serve a purpose. As Ben Norderfeld, I can let go of all these boundaries. It gives me freedom to create music as spontaneously as possible. It’s something I like listening to myself, and playing this makes me relaxed, drifting away into another dimension, experiencing a void where problems don’t exist. Creating all of this has been such a fulfilling process, without the need to overthink. That’s why to me this is the most personal music I’ve ever made.”

Sonically, the album explores themes of ambient, relaxing, chill, peaceful, and cinematic music. Rather than demanding attention, it gently invites it whisking listeners away when needed, or quietly accompanying them in moments of calm.
