How Hostage Situation Turned 'Hostile Frequencies' Into a Seven-Month Touring Machine, Looking Ahead
The Denver trio reflects on their breakthrough 2025 and shares what's next for 2026.

Denver bass music trio Hostage Situation has turned their sophomore album 'Hostile Frequencies' into a seven-month touring juggernaut that shows no signs of slowing down. Since dropping the 20-track opus in October, the group has been relentlessly hitting stages from Columbus to San Francisco, with Phase 1 of their tour already 90% sold out and Phase 2 adding another 20+ dates through March 2026. Fresh off standout performances at DANCEFESTOPIA and WAKAAN, plus the release of their 15-track "Burn For You" remix package, Hostage Situation is closing out 2025 with serious momentum. We caught up with the trio to talk about their breakthrough year, what they learned from those first months on the road, and where they're taking the Hostile Frequencies experience in 2026.
Beatportal: Looking back at 2025, you dropped 'Hostile Frequencies' in October and immediately hit the road for Phase 1 of the tour. What was the most significant moment or realization from those first few months of bringing the album to life on stage?
Hostage Situation: The first significant moment of the tour was our first stop in Columbus, Ohio at Skully's. It was packed out and the energy was insane. It was really cool to see a live crowd react to all of the brand new stuff we just put out.
Beatportal: Phase 2 of the 'Hostile Frequencies' Tour runs through March 2026 and expands to 20+ new markets. How has the response from Phase 1 shaped your approach to these upcoming shows, and what can fans expect from the production and set design evolution?
Hostage Situation: The response from Phase 1 of the tour was amazing. It definitely made us excited to get rolling on Phase 2.
Beatportal: The 'Hostile Frequencies' album showcases your range from dubstep to bass house to more emotional productions. How has touring this diverse material influenced how you approach your DJ sets and track selection compared to before the album dropped?
Hostage Situation: We've always tried our best to be as diverse as possible. We like a wide variety of music so we've tried to avoid being locked into one specific genre. We have a fun time flowing through different vibes and genres in sets, so the album had some perfect pieces to create a set with.
Beatportal: You've been building momentum in markets outside of Denver throughout 2025. Which new territories showed the strongest response during Phase 1, and where are you seeing the most growth potential as you head into 2026?
Hostage Situation: Columbus, Ohio, Toronto, Canada, Detroit, Michigan, Salt Lake City, Utah, Fort Collins and Boulder, Colorado, Seattle, Washington all showed out crazy, but honestly, every single one of the dates was special in their own way.
Beatportal: Looking at your touring schedule, you'll be on the road consistently through Q1 2026. What happens after Phase 2 wraps in March? Are there plans for international dates, more festival runs, or new music on the horizon?
Hostage Situation: We would definitely like to get some international dates in and fingers crossed for festivals. We would really like to get on Lost Lands this year, but again, fingers crossed. We all have, believe it or not, a ton of music that we're working on right now, so don't expect the releases to slow down in 2026.
Beatportal: You've been bringing out various support acts throughout the tour. How important is the full show experience and lineup curation as you scale up your touring operation, and what role do you see that playing in your 2026 strategy?
Hostage Situation: Support is extremely important to us, as a lot of the people we are traveling around with are close homies that 100% deserve to be showcased because of how insanely talented they are. This helps us create the true Hostile Frequencies experience, and you will continue to see the homies on the lineups in 2026. Some new ones and some that we've had on some of the tour stops in the past.
Beatportal: As you close out 2025 and look ahead to 2026, what's the biggest goal for Hostage Situation as a touring act? Where do you want to be by the end of next year that you're not at right now?
Hostage Situation: We would really like to be on some of these bigger festivals in 2026. While we have played some like WAKAAN and DANCEFESTOPIA, these big festivals are a huge focus for us right now.
