Like fashion, music is cyclical, yet as the response to Vintage Culture and Gabss’ spin on “Lost” reminds us, channel Orange never went out of style. After months of strong reactions from crowds around the world, their melodic interpretation of Frank Ocean’s 2012 single lands via affairs, adding impact to the coterie of tracks (four total) that Vintage Culture’s label has put out since launching in September.

While a dance/electronic update of the cult-favorite single wasn’t on our bingo card for 2025, by summertime, it was clear that the producers’ version had become one of the most talked-about IDs  – and with good reason. For many, it’s as close to a time machine as one can get, recalling fond memories from 13 years ago while bridging the past and present with a warm, fuzzy sense of nostalgia. Listen below.

All these years later, "Lost" remains Ocean's top-selling song on Beatport. That its cultural capital still holds strong more than a decade later sets Vintage Culture and Gabss’ take up for success, and together, they make good on it with a wavy, head-bob-inducing rendition equally suited for live sets and headphones.

"LOST" is out now via affairs. Buy it on Beatport.
