Four Tet’s “925” remix adds even more aura to a track that already had plenty of it. A focal point of Sammy Virji’s high-achieving debut album, Same Day Cleaning, the collaboration between Chris Lake, the new-age UKG don, and RoRo gains expanded texture and space on Four Tet’s interpretation. The English electronic visionary's version does what many might expect it to do: dial down the original’s club-forward character, recalibrating its energy in a decisively left-field but not inaccessible fashion.
Moving loosely and unbotheredly, the remix carries the idiosyncratic signature that’s long distinguished Four Tet’s work, offering a fresh perspective on one of dance music’s most visible team-ups this year while further elevating Virji’s sky-high profile. Listen below.
Following its play out at Alexandra Palace in November, Four Tet’s take now lands courtesy of Capitol Records UK. Buy it on Beatport.
