Black Hole Recordings 2025: A Year in Review — The Albums That Shaped the Scene
Every year, dance music gives us singles to move to — but only a few albums that reach us on a deeper level.

In 2025, Black Hole Recordings delivered a rare kind, where every major album felt like its own universe. Some took us back in time, some imagined the future, and some guided us inward. Together, they painted a portrait of a label still evolving, still curious, and still pushing boundaries nearly three decades on.
This is the story of some of the scene’s most ambitious, emotional, and forward-thinking albums of 2025 and the journeys they took us on.
Factor B – Theatre of the Mind: Bloom (In Loving Memory)
Factor B’s long-awaited debut album arrived at the beginning of 2025 as his most personal project yet — a heartfelt tribute rooted in love, loss, and healing. Across 22 tracks, ‘Bloom’ blends euphoric trance with deeply introspective storytelling, shifting between soaring leads and quiet emotional spaces. With contributions from his Highlandr alias, the album expands beyond genre boundaries and stands as one of the most moving trance releases of the year.
PARAFRAME – Metropolis
A futuristic dive into neon-lit sound design, ‘Metropolis’ showcases PARAFRAME’s signature hybrid of progressive grooves, melodic house and techno and cinematic trance. Built around moody basslines, dystopian atmospheres, and crisp melodic details, it plays like a sci-fi world brought to life in audio. Inspired by Fritz Lang’s 1927 classic, the 12-track album unfolds with a vivid narrative and visual concept — elevated through standout collaborations and cutting-edge production. A defining release for fans of darker, modern trance aesthetics.
Mark Sherry – TH3RTY
Mark Sherry celebrated three decades in the scene with an explosive, two-disc high-octane album that blends tech-trance power with razor-sharp modern production. ‘TH3RTY’ spans collaborations, remixes of classic tracks, and original productions across trance and techno, all packed with peak-time energy and emotional moments. It’s a relentless statement that reminds listeners why Sherry remains one of trance’s most consistent innovators. Fast, fierce, and full of attitude.
Sunlounger – Distant Memories
Roger Shah’s iconic Sunlounger project returned in 2025 with ‘Distant Memories’, a beautifully crafted double-disc album that effortlessly bridges meditative chill and melodic club energy. The album drifts between sunset pads, warm guitars, and beach-wave textures, creating a dreamy, escapist soundscape that feels both timeless and deeply emotional. With its warm, acoustic-infused Balearic vibes, ‘Distant Memories’ is a nostalgic journey for fans of organic, melodic trance.
Solarstone – innermost
Solarstone’s ‘innermost’ is a refined, emotional showcase of his Pure Trance ethos — clean melodies, pristine production, and heartfelt storytelling. Minimalist yet deeply moving, the album drifts between warm progressive tones and classic trance clarity while reflecting on themes of family, love, and personal growth. Highlights like “Your Sacrifice” (feat. Clara Yates) and “Sonata” capture Solarstone’s unmistakable melodic touch. More about inner reflection than dancefloor peaks, ‘innermost’ stands as one of Richards’ most thoughtful and beautifully restrained works to date.
Markus Schulz – In Search of Sunrise 21
‘In Search of Sunrise 21’ carried forward his reinvention of one of trance’s most iconic compilation series. For many, ISOS is more than a mix — it’s a ritual, a soundtrack to both night’s end and day’s beginning. Since taking over in 2018, Schulz has reshaped the series for a new generation, and ISOS 21 follows that tradition with sweeping progressions, emotional depth, and seamless transitions. Spread across The Awakening, The Nirvana, and The Nocturnal Voyage, the compilation moves from deep ambient reflections to melodic trance euphoria and darker late-night textures, delivering a full narrative journey rather than just a collection of tracks.
BiXX – The Voice of Reason
BiXX’s ‘The Voice of Reason’ landed as a standout uplifting-trance album — melodic, emotional, and instantly memorable. Packed with soaring leads, heartfelt vocals, and the producer’s trademark sense of optimism, it moves effortlessly between high-energy anthems and warm, reflective moments. ‘The Voice of Reason’ strikes the perfect balance between energy and heart, standing out as one of the year’s strongest vocal-trance moments.
Rinaly – Ecliptica
A futuristic, emotionally driven trance music album that doesn’t just deliver dancefloor energy, but tells a story of resilience, balance, and self-discovery. With diverse vocal features, genre-blending production like uplifting trance, techno and even drum & bass, and a strong conceptual core, ‘Ecliptica’ signals Rinaly as one of the genre’s most exciting voices and a boundary-defying artist in today’s scene.
Airscape (Johan Gielen) – Etherflow
After nearly two decades, Johan Gielen revived his legendary Airscape alias with Etherflow — a 14-track journey of emotional depth and melodic trance exploration. Blending contemporary textures with rich live instrumentation, the album showcases Gielen’s evolution as both an artist and a storyteller. Shaped by experiences of loss and healing, ‘Etherflow’ weaves uplifting vocals, atmospheric instrumentals, and organic collaborations into a powerful reminder of how essential the Airscape sound remains to trance history.
Driftmoon – Moonstruck
Driftmoon’s ‘Moonstruck’ marks the duo’s full-circle reunion — a decade in the making and their most complete artistic statement to date. Spanning 22 tracks across four lunar chapters, the album traces their journey from rediscovery to full creative alignment, mirroring the emotional cycles of their return. Built on sweeping melodies, cinematic trance craftsmanship, and deeply textured production, ‘Moonstruck’ shines through standout collaborations and released in December, serves as the perfect closure to 2025. One of the year's most vivid and defining trance albums, woven with club energy, storytelling, and mature melodies.
From deeply personal concept albums to visionary club journeys, Black Hole Recordings delivered a year defined by creativity, emotion, and forward movement. These releases didn’t just celebrate the artists’ milestones — they set the tone for the scene’s future. If this year is any sign, the next chapter of melodic dance music is looking brighter than ever.
