Sam WOLFE: “By the time you master today’s trend, the sound is already changing"
US producer celebrates HILOMATIK release with open Q&A.
Sam WOLFE has made his HILOMATIK debut with ‘The Party’. To celebrate his first release on HI-LO’s techno imprint, the Atlanta based producer took part in an AMA on the label’s Discord, answering questions from fans about his music and career.
Rather than approaching the release as a shift in direction, ‘The Party’ comes from the same mindset that has shaped his recent work. It was made to work in his own sets and in clubs, with a clear focus on energy and movement on the dance floor.
“The scene is changing fast”, Sam says. “I wanted to lean further into a club techno sound and make something that really hits in my sets.” That practical approach carries through much of his thinking around production and career choices. The American artist is open about the importance of understanding trends without chasing them blindly. “By the time you master today’s trend, the sound is already changing”, he explains. “The most important thing is making music you genuinely love, otherwise it’s hard to keep going.”
HILOMATIK has become a natural home for that attitude. Known for releasing straightforward, DJ-driven techno, the label has built a strong identity around club-ready records. Sam’s sound fits comfortably within that space. “I love the team and the community,” he says. “Oliver (Heldens, red.) is a great friend, and it feels good to be part of something like this.”
With plenty of shows across the world, Sam has gained a lot of experience as a DJ. “I’m very extroverted, and I love connecting with people. Performing on stage and meeting people who love the same music I do is incredibly fulfilling. It energizes me.” With ‘The Party’, Sam adds another release that stays focused on the dance floor and reinforces his growing presence on one of techno’s most visible imprints.
