The story of FD – one of the drum & bass scene's most veteran figureheads – starts deep in London’s pirate radio culture and and the raw electricity of the city’s rave culture. Those early years were about chasing feeling, recording mixtapes, and falling in love with the moments certain records could create. DJing came naturally, and making his own music soon followed.

Over the past two decades, FD has carved out a sound rooted in honesty, emotion, and balance, pulling from soul, jazz, hip hop, and the full emotional spectrum of drum & bass.

Now, FD returns with his second album, From The Ashes, via his pivotal imprint The North Quarter that he runs with Lenzman. Across 14 tracks, it’s his most open and wide-ranging body of work yet, weaving drum & bass foundations with ambient textures, 140 explorations, and dubbed-out electronica.

The album was born after a creative low point, when stepping away from expectations helped everything click again. Collaborations with Fox, Lenzman, Cronic, Minx, and DRS add depth and texture, while solo moments show FD stretching out in new directions.

Speaking on the album, FD states: “For me, an album gives the chance to really dig in to a direction – to make art for art’s sake, not just write bangers and get sucked into the homogenisation of dance music. It’s a chance to bare your soul and show who you are.”
