Bastian Bux and Austin Ato Win Beatport's First-Ever Vicious Music Awards Categories

On November 26, members of the Spanish electronic music community gathered at Teatro Kapital in Madrid, fittingly celebrating the genre’s strongest year on record at the 14th annual Vicious Music Awards Gala. 

Organized by Vicious Magazine, the Vicious Music Awards are Spain’s premier honors for electronic music, recognizing standout artists, labels, creatives, clubs, parties, and other events across nearly 30 fan-voted categories. This year, roughly 36,000 electronic music enthusiasts cast their votes, with the victors of each category ultimately selected by a professional jury.

The 2025 awards gala celebrated two women shaping the genre’s present and future: Indira Paganotto and Brenda Serna, who won the awards for Best National Artist and Best New Artist, respectively. It also marked the first year that the Vicious Music Awards featured two special new categories presented by Beatport: Best New Artist of 2025 and Best Track of 2025. 

Best New Artist contenders included Barcelona-born DJ/producer Bastian Bux, Ibiza favorite Greta Levska, and rising techno tastemaker Valentinø. Best Track nominees spanned Cinthie & Meat’s remix of Huxley’s “Box Clever,” Austin Ato's remix of Groove Armada’s “I See You Baby (feat. Gramma Funk),” and KI/KI's “Time to Party.”

Raphael Pujol, Beatport's vice president of global curation, and Marina Palacios, director of global label relations, took the stage to announce the winners.

Bux won Best New Artist, a distinction he calls “incredibly special because it recognises a bold commitment to the most classic house sound, a genre that isn’t exactly the most trendy right now but the style that fulfills me the most and the one that made me fall in love with electronic music.”

“I’m deeply grateful to Beatport, to Vicious, and above all to everyone who voted for me and has supported me along the way,” Bux tells Beatportal. “This gives me the energy and motivation to keep shaping this project that means so much to me through my new brand, Petit Comité of House, which has become the epicentre of everything that’s happening."

Ato took home the honors for Beatport’s Best Track category. “I would like to thank Beatport and Vicious and all the people that voted my remix of Groove Armada’s ‘I See You Baby ‘for the Best Track of 2025. It’s wonderful to know my music’s connected with so many people,” he shares. “In my DJ sets this year, I’ve seen crowds absolutely love it. So thank you Beatport and Vicious, it means a lot to get this.”
