Why Córdoba Became the Heart of Guy J’s Global Underground Story
As GU48: Córdoba lands, Guy J reflects on his evolution, his spiritual connection with fans, and why the Argentine city continues to redefine his artistic path.

With Global Underground’s #GU48: Guy J - Córdoba landing as one of the most anticipated entries in the legendary series, Guy J steps into a lineage that defined generations of electronic music fans. For him, the invitation alone was emotional. “I was really overwhelmed when they reached out to me,” he says. “To be among names that influenced me and the electronic music scene, means the world. Each name on the GU series is a name that had some impact on the genre they belong to.”
The choice of Córdoba wasn’t a branding exercise; it was deeply personal. “Córdoba has a special place in my heart and a reflection on my career,” Guy J explains. “Going there for years, I’ve developed a deep connection with the city and with Argentina. It became a place that pushes me to become better in what I do. I always feel before I go that I need to prove myself again and give my best to that amazing crowd.”
That connection was on full display during his GU48 photoshoot, where fans mobbed him in the street. “Argentinians are very passionate people, and very emotional people,” he says. “They feel the music, not just listen to it. I’ve always made music that is most honest to what I feel, and I think they get it the most and that’s why Argentina is special.”
GU48 arrives as a dual project: an immersive club journey and an emotive downtempo counterpart. The decision was intentional. “These two mixes are a homage to the music that made me who I am,” he says.
“I decided to make electronic club music that starts deep and builds up, which is how I look at a club night. I love a perfect build-up. It should always be full-on energetic music in my view, and I tried to put that into the mix.”
“The downtempo mix is dedicated to world music. I tried to make it an emotional mix to reflect the power of music.”

His own productions dominate his DJ sets, and GU48 is no exception. But selection didn’t come easy. “It was hard to choose,” he admits. “I wanted to combine my music with other producers’ music. There are so many great musicians out there and musicians I got to know over the years, so I tried to choose tracks that will make the perfect story.”
For an artist who’s constantly touring and consistently producing peak-time magic, the weight of the GU legacy carried real pressure. “I felt a lot of pressure,” he says. “This is something that will stay forever as part of a legacy like Global Underground. From time to time I upload mixes and try to make them perfect, but after some time they disappear in a sea of mixes. Something like Global Underground stays forever and becomes iconic.”
His fans often describe his sets as transcendent. Guy J doesn’t shy away from that idea. “This is what I try to deliver,” he says. “When I play in a club and have a long set, I love building it and going through different genres to create a story. Some of the music I make has special meaning for me, and I can see how it affects the crowd. It makes their experience more than a night out at a club and when it happens, it’s magical.”
One standout memory stayed with him throughout the creation of GU48: the sunrise finale of We Are Lost Festival in Córdoba. “It finishes a bit after sunrise in an open field, and you see this sea of people there from the first moment till the end, showing love for music,” he says. “It was one of the most special moments.”
Despite his nonstop touring schedule, Guy J remains grounded in gratitude. “I’m very grateful for where I am today and that I make a living from my passion,” he says. “I got to where I am because I was honest with creation. Even in phases when I’m not inspired or not feeling connected, I know the inspiration will return. It’s part of my journey.”

He feels his sound has evolved significantly, especially through relationships with fellow producers: “I evolved a lot as a producer. The learning process and the technical knowledge are endless, but with time the boundaries of what I create are being pushed further. This also happened because I get to meet and have personal relationships with producers I admire. It’s beautiful when you finally get to know someone whose music you’ve played for long, it makes you understand their music better and inspires you to be truer to your craft.”
As for what GU48 represents in his career, Guy J hopes it becomes timeless. “I hope people will listen to it in 10, 15, 20 years from now and it will take them back to where they were in their life when they listened to it,” he says. “I still remember the feeling of listening to the Deep Dish GU mix… really special times.”
With GU48 now in the world, he’s already shaping the next chapter. “I’m planning 2026 at the moment,” he says. “Focusing a bit more on my brand We Are Lost, we’re doing the event in Córdoba with the same team and going to Sri Lanka. Music-wise, I have a remix for Jamie Stevens coming out and I’m making plans for my label Early Morning for next year. Ship looks super exciting.”
