WAX MOTIF & BRAZILIAN ICON MC LAN UNLEASH NEWEST CLUB WEAPON ‘BOTA’
A hard-hitting, cross-continental club anthem blending MC Lan’s Brazilian funk power with Wax’s unmistakable bass-house edge.

Following a streak of standout releases, including ‘Run It Up’ with Juos and 24hrs and ‘Gimme That Money’, Wax Motif returns on November 21st with his next club weapon, ‘BOTA’. The high-energy collaboration with Brazilian icon MC Lan continues the Chinese-Australian producer’s 2025 run of bass-house heaters on his Divided Souls Records imprint.
Wax Motif’s latest offering enlists a trailblazer of Brazil’s global funk scene, MC Lan. The singer has become one of the country’s most recognizable voices — an artist known for his fierce energy, fearless personality, and collaborations with the likes of Skrillex, Major Lazer, TroyBoi, and Will.I.Am. On ‘BOTA’, his commanding presence meets Wax Motif’s signature bass-driven production, creating a track that bridges worlds: Brazilian street energy and LA club grit. The title — Brazilian slang for “turn it up” or “hit it” — perfectly embodies the record’s explosive, global spirit.
On the collaboration, Wax Motif shares:
“I can’t remember when I first started talking to MC Lan, but I remember I had been a fan of his for a while from hearing him on Skrillex and Major Lazer records. We had briefly messaged right before my last trip to Brazil, so naturally, when I arrived, I hit him up to link up, but honestly didn’t really expect it to come through. He hit me back immediately and was like, ‘I’m gonna come pick you up.’ He pulled up in a black sprinter, and as we were driving to the studio, he began to tell me it was Diplo and Ty Dolla $ign who had told him about working with me and that we should work together. We ended up working in the studio all night and cut 2–3 records, one of them being ‘BOTA’. Once I got back, I kept working on different variations of the song till we landed on this version. Being a fan of Brazilian music and of Lan, I’m hyped we got to get one together finally.”
With ‘BOTA’, Wax Motif continues his mission to connect cultures through sound — merging his deep roots in bass and G-House with the encapsulating rhythm of Brazilian funk. For MC Lan, the record adds another powerful chapter to his legacy as one of Brazil’s most celebrated and globally recognized voices, pushing his sound far beyond Latin American borders.
