EGGSTA’s musical story started long before her name appeared on dance charts or festival lineups. Growing up in South Africa, she first connected with music through classical piano and early songwriting, a foundation that later shaped the emotional depth and melodic strength she’s known for today. Her path eventually led her to London, where new influences, collaborators, and opportunities pushed her sound into a more electronic, expansive world.

What makes EGGSTA stand out is the way she blends heartfelt storytelling with the power and atmosphere of modern dance music. Tracks like “Mr Bones,” “Shattered,” “Fallin’,” and “Wasted On Your Love” showcase her ability to write with honesty and vulnerability while still creating something built for clubs, festivals, and late-night headphones. Her collaborations with DIM3NSION, Dan Stone, Choujaa, and others have introduced her to new corners of the electronic scene, leading to releases on respected labels like Black Hole Recordings, FSOE, and Find Your Harmony.

Beyond the studio, EGGSTA’s creative world expands through striking visuals, music videos, DJ mixes, and performances that highlight her versatility as both a producer and front-facing artist. Each project shows a new side of her — yet always carries the emotional fingerprint that fans recognize instantly.

Q: How did the whole EGGSTA project first come to life?

What was the spark — and what did you hope this project would represent from day one?

A: EGGSTA was an idea between my brother and me, a vision for an EDM artist who’s bold, unforgettable, and totally relatable. From day one, the mission has been simple: to make people feel something. I want every beat, every lyric, and every visual to lift your energy, brighten your mood, and leave a lasting imprint. I hope that everyone who encounters it walks away feeling inspired, empowered, and part of the vibe.

Q: You’ve lived and created in a few very different scenes and cities.

How have those places shaped your musical identity and the sound you polish today?

A: I definitely think each country inspired a different mood in me more than a shift in sound. The sound has always remained a nostalgic emotional journey but the inspiration behind each track can only be captured by living a life. And by living in many cities and experiencing life in different cultures, I’ve been insanely inspired globally.

Q: Your music blends emotional toplines with dreamy, atmospheric production.

What usually hits you first — the lyrics, the melody, or the beat?

A: I usually come up with melodies and piano hooks and then I add lyrics thereafter. But it honestly changes with the setting. If I’m close to the ocean, some beautiful chords can get lyrics out of me instantly. However, if I’m in a city, it takes a bit longer but the lyrics seem to be a bit more thoughtful. Strange but true, haha. And yes, that has definitely happened. But most of the time I listen to artists who inspire me and I’m like “damn I wish I wrote that!” :)

Q: One production or vocal-processing trick you lean on more than people expect?

Any secret sauce you’re willing to reveal?

A: Ah, there are so many. But I can definitely share two important techniques I use. The one is that I actually use a lead of sorts to play my melodies; in particular, in drops to support the vocal melody I’m singing. It enhances it quite a lot. And secondly, I love good reverb tails. So, often going into a drop, I use an amazing plugin called Endless Smile, which really elevates and expands the sound to feel huge. It’s become quite a go-to plugin in a lot of my productions and not only for vocals.

Q: Let’s talk about your new release, “Sanctuary,” out on Magic Muzik.

What can you tell us about it — and what do you hope listeners take away?

A: I’m beyond excited about this release. I wrote it in Amsterdam with my brother Lee, with whom I write quite a lot of material. The main message behind the song is being a safe space for someone, but the music and melodies make you feel like you’re in this beautiful Amazonian forest with green all around you (well at least that’s what I see :)) I hope it makes listeners feel a sense of safety and ultimately creates that space for someone else in the emotion the music and lyrics could bring to them.

Q: When you started creating “Sanctuary,” what did that studio session look like?

Did this one form differently?

A: We started this one with the main melody that was in the drop and then I started being quite playful with my sound design. I love a good reverse reverb piano, which I add as an element to quite a lot of my releases. And so I built from there. With this type of production, it’s about layering just enough to make it feel full but not too much so that it feels overloaded. That sweet spot is a producer’s worst enemy. But when you do eventually find it on that 40th mix or 400th, it’s a beautiful feeling, haha!

Q: You’ve worked with DIM3NSION, Choujaa, Stones & Bones—each in different genres.

What makes a collaboration truly click for you?

A: I strive to only work on releases that make me feel something. Whether it’s deep or emotional or bouncy, as long as there’s some type of vibe and energy, I love creating. Working with different producers always excites me because they all have different methods and flows and every time it’s new and exciting. It’s also nice to work with the same people many times, especially when you have a great flow going. Genres for me feel boundless; it’s more about how I can make the listener feel something from what we’ve created.

Q: How do you switch gears between performing live vocals and crafting a DJ set?

And which corners of the electronic world inspire you most right now?

A: I love how both feel so different and preparing a DJ set is more about getting the crowd buzzing, whereas preparing a vocal set is more about how I mentally prepare so I can give the audience my best. Each show is a learning curve and a beautiful experience. I’m feeling very inspired by the progressive house scene that’s coming back slowly in Europe and Asia and feeling hopeful that this will become a prominent genre again.

Q: Are there lyrics you wrote that still give you goosebumps?

A: What a cool question. Just like most artists, all my lyrics have a far deeper meaning to me than what they look like on paper, but I think what comes to mind right now is a recent track called “Shattered” where I say “…alone I’m shattered, but you’re my anchor..." This is a constant reminder that when we try to tackle things alone, we can often break ourselves — but when we anchor ourselves in God, we can feel more grounded and secure in a very tumultuous world.

Q: The weirdest or funniest voice-note idea you’ve ever found on your phone?

A: Oh dear! So I tend to write songs while I sleep. It’s quite frustrating because some of my best work has been while I’m fast asleep and I’m too tired to get up and write it down or go record it quickly. But there’s one voice note where I’m trying to whisper but sing high at the same time to remind myself of where I wanna take the vocal, and listening back, it sounds like the neighbour got a new cat, to be honest haha! :)
