Madd Rod lets instinct lead on In Constant Evolution

Madd Rod returns on his own Inner Shah Recordings this Friday with In Constant Evolution, a new full-length that threads between Indie Dance, Krautrock and EBM. The release marks his third studio album and a sharper, more instinct-driven turn in his sound.

Some albums are planned from the outset. Others reveal themselves only when the tracks are laid end to end and start speaking to each other. In Constant Evolution, the third studio album from Lisbon-born, Berlin-based producer Madd Rod, belongs firmly to the latter. What began as a loose folder of club sketches from the past year gradually cohered into a full-length with its own internal logic.

The sequencing drives everything. Keys, BPM, and mood thread the record like a long-form narrative mix rather than a set of isolated singles. When a gap appeared in that arc, Madd Rod wrote Breaks track Where Did You Go, Winter Sun? specifically to complete it. The track locked into place instantly, anchoring the album’s pacing and emotional contour.

The making of the record oscillated between precision and impulse. Some pieces took more than thirty hours to carve into their final form. Others arrived whole. Rainy Days in the Summer was finished in under three hours, built around a restless bassline and a raw, phone-recorded vocal left almost untouched. That immediacy became part of the album’s character, embracing texture over polish.

Across thirteen tracks, In Constant Evolution moves through cinematic openings, EBM tension, reflective detours, and straight-ahead club pressure. The music feels shaped as much by daily movement through Berlin as by studio immersion. Rather than sanding every surface smooth, Madd Rod lets the edges breathe; instinct becomes the organizing principle.

The closer, The Tension of the Last Goodbye, doesn’t resolve the journey so much as tilt it forward, leaving the album suspended mid-motion. With Inner Shah Recordings approaching its hundredth release, In Constant Evolution catches a producer trusting the process and following where the music naturally leads.

In Constant Evolution is out November 21, 2025, on Inner Shah Recordings, available on Beatport, Bandcamp, and all major platforms.
