Layton Giordani is on a tear right now. Fresh off monster collabs like “When It Kicks” with Green Velvet and “Alto” with Adam Beyer, he’s back with a wild new rework of Gorillaz’s classic “DARE” – and it’s been sending dance floors into meltdown.
First teased during a late-night studio session and leaked on TikTok this summer, “Hold It Down (DARE)” blew up fast. It’s now one of Layton’s most-requested tracks, hammered out by heavyweights like John Summit and dominating festivals and warehouse sets alike.
Out now on his new label MADMINDS, it follows “Call You Back” (with GENESI and Be No Rain), which ripped up the Beatport charts – overall #5 and #2 on tech house. With its filthy groove, twisted nostalgia, and that unmistakable Gorillaz hook, this one’s pure chaos in the best way. Listen below.
“DARE by Gorillaz is one of my all-time favourite songs," Giordani tells Beatportal. "I remember listening to it when I was a kid, and you could say Gorillaz helped influence my love for electronic music before I got into house and techno. Younger Layton would be so happy about this release…it’s an honour to get the seal of approval from them and put my spin on this iconic record.”
