South African-born, UK-based producer Kyle Watson makes his debut on Black Book Records with ‘Bad Luck / Feel’

‘Bad Luck / Feel’ – a dynamic two-track EP that showcases new range to his trademark blueprint. Watson experiments with form, relying on blistering basslines, fierce drumwork, and avant-garde vocal processing to throw visceral punches to the gut. The EP sees him honing in on the foundations of his unmistakable sound, while challenging listener expectations with exhilarating finesse.

On the A-side, Bad Luck features Nevve, a rising force in tech house known for a signature vocal style that fuses spoken cadence, melody, and rebellious energy. Their rhythmic topline cuts through intricate percussion, setting up a club-geared storm and giving way to a shapeshifting, almost human-like synth that drives the track into beast mode. On the B-side, Feel puts Watson’s familiar fingerprints front and center — dark, rolling, and infectious. Pitched-down vocals and surging sirens build tension before a stripped-back outro leaves percussion in the spotlight, closing with pure peak-time allure.

For over a decade, Watson has carved a distinct lane in the global house scene. His intentionally niche, specialist approach — melding slick sound design, chunky basslines, and precision drums — has earned industry co-signs from heavyweights like Chris Lake, John Summit, and Gorgon City, while fueling upcoming tour stops across North America, South Africa, and Australia. Beyond releases on coveted imprints like Defected, Catch & Release, Sink or Swim, and more, Watson also co-runs Box Of Cats, and launched his own imprint, No Context Records, in 2023 — both hubs for bass-driven, left-of-center house music.

Now with his latest offering, Watson rounds out his discography with a track that aptly reflects the range of his ear, and lands in great company on Black Book Records.
