Hospital Records and Quite Lucky unite for 'Echoes'
A six-track EP born from a landmark writing camp in Viscri, Romania

Hospital Records and Romanian drum & bass collective Quite Lucky unite for Echoes – a six-track EP born from a landmark writing camp held at Alter Acoustic Studios in Viscri, Romania.
More than just a standalone release, Echoes represents a cultural crossover, proving that collaboration across borders can expand the boundaries of a genre — letting local roots and global legacies grow together.
Quite Lucky have steadily carved out their place in Romania’s underground electronic circuit, championing soulful and forward-thinking drum & bass through events and community-driven projects. The writing camp brought members of the Hospital and Songs In The Key Of Knife family — Unglued, Flava D, Degs, Hugh Hardie and Charlotte X — together with emerging Romanian talent from the Quite Lucky roster, including Blocksberg, Sub:liminal, Azotix and soulDR!P. Every track was fully ideated, written, and produced in Viscri, making Echoes a snapshot of pure collaboration.
The EP opens with ‘No More Excuses’ (Hugh Hardie, Sub:liminal, Degs & Blocksberg) on 6th October — a masterclass in liquid D&B. Mellow chords and rich vocals set the mood for the project, balanced against a simmering bass synth that never overwhelms. ‘Make It Right’ (8th October) sees Unglued, Hugh Hardie, and Azotix at peak form, with live basslines, brass stabs, and Blocksberg’s filtered vocals giving the track an organic energy rarely found in drum & bass.
Flava D, Sub:liminal, and Charlotte X team up on ‘Cling’, delivering emotionally charged songwriting wrapped in ethereal production, while ‘Night Drive’ from Azotix & Blocksberg experiments with complex rhythms and tastefully unpredictable turns. Minimalistic yet mature, the track reflects the duo’s sophisticated musical knowledge and production expertise.
‘Second Guess’ (Azotix, Hugh Hardie & soulDR!P) strips things back for an intentional, uncluttered groove, while the cheekily titled ‘The Fire Water’ — a nod to Romania’s traditional spirit — closes the record with Unglued’s trademark rowdiness amplified by Azotix’s local flair. Together, these tracks showcase the diverse voices at the camp and the shared vision of two collectives committed to pushing drum & bass forward.
Echoes lands via Hospital Records on 10th October.
