KAAZE & CERES talk us through the making of hot new collab 'On The Floor'

‘On The Floor’ is a fierce new statement of intent from the powerful studio coupling of renowned DJ and producer KAAZE and vocal force CERES.

Marking KAAZE’s debut release on Spinnin’ Records, the track captures the magnetic chemistry between the two artists, resulting in an emotionally charged big-room anthem that blurs the lines between underground grit and mainstage euphoria.

Beatportal sat down with both KAAZE and CERES to dive deeper into the making of ‘On The Floor,’ the warehouse-inspired drop that drives it, and what this collaboration means for the next chapter in both of their musical journeys.

‘On The Floor’ feels like a perfect balance between your big-room energy and a more vocal-driven, emotional sound. How did the collaboration with CERES first come about?

“CERES and I have a great chemistry together. We both know what we want and our sounds just fit perfectly. For ‘On The Floor,’ CERES had the vocal down already, which normally I prefer because then I can shape the instrumental to fit the vibe of the vocal to the fullest.”

The drop followed by full-scale alarm effects has real warehouse energy. How did you approach producing the drop in particular?

“I felt since the track is very vocal-focused, but still has an underground vibe, that having a small section that gives it that warehouse vibe will bring the track even more to life. I love to have small sections in songs that kinda pops out for a second or two. Hits hard on the dancefloor.”

‘On The Floor’ has featured in your DJ sets this summer season as one of many new IDs you’ve teased. How did it transfer live, and what have the crowd reactions been like to this one?

“It has definitely been one of the IDs that I felt people got caught up on this summer. Even sing-along moments from the crowd during the second drop. There’s nothing better than that feeling when it’s unreleased. But truth be told, CERES and I have even more upcoming collabs together that people are waiting for as well. Exciting times!”

This is an extra special release for you, as it marks your debut signing to Spinnin’ Records. What are your feelings around this? Do you see further collaboration in the future?

“It has always been a goal to release on Spinnin’ Records. I have a great and solid relationship with them now, and we are planning many releases and also preparing to launch my own record label with them. It’s a dream come true for me and I’m truly grateful for this opportunity.”

As someone who’s spent years shaping your signature ‘KAAZE’ sound, what keeps you inspired and evolving in today’s ever-changing dance landscape?

"I find it important to always evolve yourself and your sound. I’m older now, and I feel it’s important that my music follows me and what I feel personally. I come from a very underground scene before I was KAAZE, and this new sound is a way of finding myself again, but in a new and exciting way."

CERES, your vocals really drive 'On The Floor.' Can you share the inspiration behind the lyrics and overall inspiration for this track?

“It was inspired by that moment when you just stop caring about the problems or people that are draining your energy. Instead, you turn all that energy back to yourself...on the dancefloor, and decide to move on, chase better things, and just keep going.”

This is your second studio collaboration with KAAZE. In your opinion, what is it about your individual sounds and creative approach that blends so well?

“We actually have several songs together. There are three more still in progress. I think we match so well because my vocal melodies are simple, emotional, and loopable, always carrying a deeper meaning. KAAZE’s dark and euphoric production makes me feel powerful and confident so it’s a perfect balance.”

Do you ever face writer’s block when working on new lyrics? If so, how do you overcome it?

“Yes, sometimes. When that happens, I take a few days off. There is so much noise and music everywhere that I often find real inspiration in silence. That’s when I can reconnect with myself and gather my thoughts again.”

What’s the one song that, when you hear it at a rave, will always get you on the floor?

“‘GIRLBOSS’ by Sara Landry — it’s so creative and full of attitude. I love it!”

With 'On The Floor' now officially released, what does this track represent for you creatively, and where do you want to take your sound next?

“This song feels like a statement for me. The honest lyrics, a strong melody, and that fierce production. It represents confidence and freedom. That’s exactly the kind of energy I want to keep in my sound for now: music that makes people feel unstoppable.”
