Mary Droppinz & Casey Club Unite on Crucast for ‘Sofa Soup’

US energy meets UK underground pressure as Mary Droppinz and Casey Club craft a heavyweight 140 anthem for Crucast.

Crucast delivers another standout bass release with ‘Sofa Soup’, a collaboration that bridges two creative worlds. Los Angeles-based artist Mary Droppinz and UK producer Casey Club come together for a track that captures the shared energy of both scenes, merging the bold impact of American dubstep with the darker, rolling textures of UK 140.

Despite being made entirely remotely, ‘Sofa Soup’ feels cohesive and instinctive. Its foundation combines FM and pidgin-style basses—a sound rooted in the new wave of 140—paired with warped vocal samples and rhythmic intricacy. The title itself comes from a vocal phrase recorded by Mary Droppinz, while additional vocal layers from Casey Club’s wife add a personal and playful edge, reflecting the track’s mix of UK and US influences.

For Mary Droppinz, ‘Sofa Soup’ continues her rise as one of North America’s most distinctive voices in electronic music. Her sets move effortlessly through breakbeat, acid, jungle, and electro, with performances at Coachella, Red Rocks, and Amnesia Ibiza establishing her as a leading name in modern underground culture. Away from the stage, she’s also a driving force for equality in electronic music through her work with Femme House.

Casey Club, meanwhile, is fast becoming a key figure in the new era of UK bass. Known for his genre-blurring releases such as ‘Papi Riddim’ and ‘Brostep Flow’, his sound fuses grit, groove, and rave energy, earning support from heavyweights including Chase & Status, Four Tet, and Zeds Dead.

Together, Droppinz and Casey Club showcase what global bass culture looks like in 2025: collaborative, fearless, and unrestrained. ‘Sofa Soup’ is a pure reflection of that spirit.
