Rochelle Jordan’s fresh 17-track album Through The Wall – out now via EMPIRE – is a full-spectrum vision of modern R&B pushed through the prism of dance, soul, and electronic futurism.
The album finds the British-Canadian artist in her boldest, freest form yet, and with her long-time friend KLSH at the helm as executive producer, the record brings together a stacked lineup of collaborators – KAYTRANADA, DāM-Funk, Byron the Aquarius, Hamdi, Machinedrum, MPH and more – each adding their own flavor to Rochelle’s sleek, emotional world.
To celebrate the release, Rochelle takes a moment to spotlight some of the producers who helped shape the sound behind her latest album – selecting her favorite tracks from each of their catalogues. From Hamdi’s hypnotic UKG grooves to DāM-Funk’s cosmic funk odysseys, this curated list offers a deeper look into the sonic inspirations and creative kinship that power Through The Wall.

MPH
My personal favorite track from MPH is “Close Your Eyes.” It’s such a dreamy song with the most stunning hard-hitting elements. It’s clearly a huge festival hit but that track gets me through my everyday workout and the prettiest walks through the park on a sunny day. An all-rounder that one is.

Hamdi
I’d have to say “Shake” by Hamdi. This track is one of the smoothest UKG records. It really makes me feel like I'm being musically seduced into a portal of some sort. Its simple nature is extremely gratifying. When a producer is able to give me fullness in minimalism, I'm sold every time. Love that one!

KLSH
One of my new personal favorite KLSH tracks, I'd have to say, is “Ladida.” The moment I heard the chords, the snares, and the hit of the wood block, I was sent back to the ‘90s and thrown into 2077! It took me on the wildest ride, imagination-wise, and it really is one of the most expensive-sounding, classic house joints of the decade.

Byron the Aquarius
My favorite Byron the Aquarius track is one called “Dr. Gizmo”. Honestly, this track ends up on every playlist I create. Talk about, soul wrapped up in an untouchable groove. So simple and sexy, that song really has a language of its own, and you have to be a person with a certain vibe to understand it truly.

DāM-Funk
My personal favorite track by DaM-FunK is “What’s Up." It’s a late-night ride through the ‘80s right into the ‘90s, and honestly, that's all I ask for, that’s all I want for. That sax breakdown midway through, along with the overall track's tight and precise sway, is amazing. He is just the Godfather of groove and understands it on a whole other level.

Jimmy Edgar
My new personal favorite Jimmy Edgar track right now is “Bite the Bait”. There is something so luscious and expansive about that beat. For him to be able to immerse himself in an R&B world and create such a fresh take, full of imagination and color, is incredible to me. It’s the synths, the snappy snares. Not to mention the electronic breakdown that brings it to an unexpected place. There is no other song like this one.

Kaytranada
My favorite Kaytranada track right now is “DO IT!” This production hosts his classic bounce, a tight snare hit, and chord choices that grip me so tightly and will have me dancing around my crib for hours. It’s so confident and brings joyous feelings of the past to the present. And God do we ever need that right now!
