IMS Dubai to Host Middle East Debut of BICEP’s 'TAKKUUK'
BICEP’s audiovisual project 'TAKKUUK' makes its Middle East debut at Beatport Presents IMS Dubai on November 13, spotlighting the power of electronic music to tell cultural and climate stories.
On November 13, acclaimed electronic duo BICEP will bring their groundbreaking audiovisual project TAKKUUK to the Middle East for the first time, with a special screening at Beatport Presents IMS Dubai from 5-6 pm at the 25hours Hotel One Central. The premiere marks a milestone stop on the project’s ongoing global tour, following immersive showings in Europe and ahead of forthcoming presentations in Greenland, Milan, and New York.
TAKKUUK isn’t just another electronic music project. Created in partnership with the charity In Place Of War, It’s a deep collaboration between BICEP and Indigenous artists from across the Arctic, weaving together traditional vocals, field recordings from Greenland’s glaciers, and the duo’s signature sound. The result is a powerful blend of culture and climate storytelling – demonstrating that electronic music can be harnessed to amplify voices from communities on the frontlines of global change.
The soundtrack, released on Ninja Tune/EarthSonic earlier this year highlights the enduring link between music, environment, and identity. With visuals from Zak Norman and filmmaker Charlie Miller, the project hits as an immersive, emotional experience that sticks with you.
The Middle East premiere unfolds within IMS Dubai, a two-day summit dedicated to exploring the intersections of music, culture, finance, and technology. With its global outlook and regional focus, IMS Dubai provides a fitting stage for TAKKUUK’s message – underscoring how creativity can serve as both cultural preservation and a tool for awareness in times of urgent ecological change.
