Ismus unveils ‘Time Capsule 001’, a ten-track VA LP of re-releases

The beloved but defunct Berlin label brand continues under the KNTXT umbrella

Following last year’s relaunch, Ismus is back with 10-track VA LP ‘Time Capsule 001’. Now under the wing of Charlotte de Witte’s KNTXT, the label is committed to championing the underground-rave vibe of techno, dance, and trance established by Berlin’s beloved party/label brand.

‘Time Capsule 001’ begins a compilation series of outstanding re-released Ismus tracks by the likes of Krl Mx, Gijensu et al, giving them a new lease of life and new adherents. This series goes hand in hand with all-new music on the revived label, like their VA LP ‘Novaone’ last year, and will represent a ‘Best Of’ with all tracks available for streaming and digital purchase for the first time.

Ismus shut down in Spring 2023, after 8 years of underground Europe-wide techno raving and 4 years of releases—until Charlotte’s imprint enabled its return last year.
‘It’s vital to me that breakthrough platforms and labels like Ismus stay around and are given the opportunity to grow. With KNTXT, we’re very happy to play a part in the continuation of the label and look forward to Ismus’ next chapter.’

‘Time Capsule 001’ track round-up:

  • Kicking off with Gijensu’s pulsing Peak/Driving ‘Red Tooth District’, insanely fast and acidly fuzzy techno.
  • Next up is Krl Mx’s ‘massive track’ (de Witte) LEFTLOVERS—trance at crazy speed over jolting, industrial techno beats.
  • Tham’s ‘Raised In Embers’ brings growling ominous techno, spacey hoovers, and acid fizz.
  • Truant’s ‘Break 95’ features rippling hard-hitting percussion, ‘morse’-like melody, jazzy synth chords, and rap elements.
  • Kløne’s ‘Frenetic Polarity’ contributes relentless acid-soaked themes, hard beats, and speedy synth arps.
  • Spoken, world-weary lyrics in Lauterkrach’s ‘I Have Some Bad Fucking Habits’ add booming drum, rattles, stabs, and high frantic vibrato synths.
  • Whitley’s ‘How Long Will It Take’ offers heavy industrial techno with juddering undercurrents and melodic interlude.
  • Maharti’s ‘Backyard Birds’ delivers a hardtrance banger with frenetic synth tunes and horn-like hoovers.
  • Less Distress’ ‘Where’s My Arc, Paulie?’ features minimal, spare, hard percussion and high, piping synth themes.
  • BXTR finishes with a flourish via ‘Heartbeat’: thick meaty techno, crackling undertheme, slow melodic chords, jabbering vocal jabs, and acidic arps.
