Anti Up (aka Chris Lake and Chris Lorenzo) released their debut album last October, but their first post-What Is Life release already has us clamoring for another – and we’re not alone. After a hot-and-heavy period of teasing that left listeners asking for “Maximum,” the ID comes full circle on the duo’s eponymous label following a rare Anti Up set at San Francisco’s Portola Festival on September 20. (“Anti Up is only playing one festival in 2025 and it’s ours, so no, we will not be acting normal anytime soon…” the Portola team wrote on Instagram in the weeks leading up to the two-day event, now in its third year.)

Of course, it’s never taken much for Anti Up to achieve “Maximum” impact - this single is just the latest proof. After popping off in the Bay Area for its last big pre-release hurrah, “Maximum” hurdles onto the Beatport store with high-octane finesse and an entrancing vocal loop that recites the track’s title like an incantation. It’s no wonder, then, that this one carries a sense of futuristic magic. Listen below.

“Maximum” extends Lake’s machine-like run in recent months, punctuated by the release of his own debut LP, Chemistry, its supporting North American tour, and “one2three” with Disclosure, which dropped the same day as this one. Meanwhile, Lorenzo has been feeding listeners with a steady stream of singles, including, most recently, “BaBaBa (Hangover)," which landed just three weeks before Anti Up’s first of 2025.

"Maximum" is out now via Anti Up. Buy it on Beatport.
