Monolink on The Beauty Of It All: Finding Yourself Between Analog and Emotion

After years on the road, Monolink retreated to a barn in the German countryside to rediscover his love for music. The Beauty Of It All blends acoustic intimacy with subtle electronic textures, creating a personal, reflective album where joy and pain, stillness and change, coexist in perfect balance.

A Journey Back to Creativity

When Monolink’s latest album, The Beauty Of It All, arrives, it does so as a deeply personal journey rather than a collection of festival-ready bangers. “At the end of 2023, I was just coming back from an intense phase of touring,” Monolink recalls. “I felt exhausted, burnt out. I had been on the road non-stop for years, and I didn’t even like my own music anymore.”

Between hotel rooms and airplanes, he tried to produce, but the old-school musician in him needed more: analog instruments, a physical space to create. So he pulled the emergency brake, taking nearly a year off to record in a German countryside barn studio built by friend and collaborator Toby Siebert. Free from deadlines, he rediscovered his love for music: “We started making music with no intention other than to create something that touched us… I pretty much made it for myself.”

Embracing Contrast and Resonance

The Beauty Of It All thrives in contrasts: joy and pain, stillness and change. Monolink explains, “It’s the tension between those poles that makes the music interesting.” The album’s blend of acoustic warmth and subtle electronic textures mirrors that duality, creating moments both intimate and expansive.

Resonance is at the heart of the record. “It’s when a lyric or a sound makes you pause and think, ‘Yes, I know this feeling,’” he says. Tracks like “Once I Understood” close the album as reflective exhalations—part lullaby, part existential release—offering a sense of closure after a deeply emotional journey.

Collaboration also played a key role. One-take recordings like “In My Place” preserve raw honesty, while jam sessions with Severin Kantereit and Toby Siebert gave life to songs like “Perfect World” and “Avalanche.” Even older sketches, such as “Phoenix,” found their moment, proving that some music waits patiently for its time.

Evolution and Personal Freedom

Looking back from Amniotic and Under Darkening Skies to this latest album, Monolink sees a shift toward boldness and intimacy. “I’ve become more explorative… and more personal,” he reflects. The Beauty Of It All prioritizes emotion over perfection, creating music that listeners can truly connect with.

While Monolink has a global audience, he remains committed to following his instincts rather than external expectations. “If I thought about expectations, I would lose the freedom to follow what feels right,” he says. The result is a record that invites listeners to pause, reflect, and discover themselves in the music.

“Maybe the feeling I want people to walk away with,” he concludes, “is finding a part of themselves in one of the songs—and appreciating the beauty within themselves.”

In a world dominated by spectacle, Monolink’s The Beauty Of It All proves that resonance, honesty, and the courage to pause are more powerful than any spotlight.
