With aspirations of becoming a new cultural landmark in London, 77 has an inaugural season program to match.
From September through December, the sleek new 550-capacity venue, located beneath The BoTree in Marylebone, will welcome performances from a hotly-tipped cast of selectors, including Skepta, David Morales, and Kerri Chandler. The party starts as early as September 26, when the hotspot-in-the-making will throw open its doors for its debut event, soundtracked by tunes from Chandler and Daisybelle. Skepta, Ossie, and Meeshy will take over the ones and twos the next day, continuing the momentum that’ll carry 77 from autumn to winter.
Outfitted with an L-Acoustics sound system and thumping KS21 subs, the venue is designed not only for “full-spectrum audio/visual experiences,” trumpets a press release, but also “connection” and “creativity.” These values are reflected in the rich palette of sounds that 77’s cold-weather programming draws from, including “No Signal presents: Diaspora Dance - Black Britannia” (October) and Zamna’s residency (November and December).

“We’ve designed 77 to deliver the same world-class production experience you’d expect from a huge venue, while ensuring the connection between the artist and the audience is at the forefront. Our focus is on creating a one-of-a-kind experience where both DJs and live acts can truly connect with the crowd,” says Director of Music, Eniz Hilmi. “We’re also encouraging artists to play extended sets, and in some cases, even all night long, something DJs rarely get the chance to do in London, giving artists freedom to tell a full story with their music, while fans get to experience them in a way they can’t anywhere else in the city.”
In addition to Hilmi (of Rinse FM and Mas Tiempo), 77 is helmed by two fellow nightlife veterans: Jonathan Wade (formerly of Tao Group) and Sebastian Banovic (KOKO, Tramp, The Roof Gardens). Pre-registration for the “best priced tickets” is now open on 77’s website.
