Mau Maioli & Vasconcellos bring São Paulo’s underground to the forefront on Rave EP
São Paulo’s underground electronic scene takes center stage this September as Mau Maioli and Vasconcellos unveil their debut joint EP, Rave, on Berlin’s Inner Shah Recordings.

Long-time collaborators and co-founders of Synce, the influential São Paulo-based label and radio show, Mau Maioli and Vasconcellos have been shaping the city’s electronic sound for years. Yet despite their history of joint projects, Rave EP is their first record released as a duo, a concise but potent statement of intent that nods to the past while charging into the future.
The EP opens with “Crow Groove,” a track steeped in the pulse of Italo, infused with darker shades of disco and wave. Sharp 80s synths cut through driving rhythms, creating a tension-filled groove designed to captivate the dancefloor. It’s a track that balances hypnotic repetition with kinetic energy, drawing listeners into its shadowed, immersive world.
The title track, “Rave,” turns the page entirely, channeling the euphoric energy of 90s trance. It’s a celebratory anthem, crafted for moments of collective release and unity on the dancefloor. Swelling synths and infectious melodic lines evoke the euphoria of a crowd moving as one, honoring the culture that propelled electronic music onto the global stage.
Together, the two tracks of Rave present a full spectrum of the night: the deep, groove-heavy hypnotism of “Crow Groove” and the ecstatic rush of “Rave.” The EP captures Mau Maioli and Vasconcellos’ shared roots in São Paulo’s club scene while signaling their continued evolution as artists capable of shaping both local and international electronic music.

Out September 19th on Inner Shah Recordings, Rave positions the duo as essential voices in the city’s vibrant underground, offering a glimpse into the next chapter of São Paulo’s ever-evolving dance culture.
