Some songs are just meant to be played loud, and “crystallized” is one of them. John Summit’s volume-cranking new single also turns up the emotive dial, exploding into a massive, melancholic moment anchored in romantic reflection that’s resonated strongly with crowds ever since the Experts Only label head premiered it at Tomorrowland. From Boom, Belgium, to beyond, the track has repeatedly hit with a cathartic and staggering swell of sound, with a sense of intensity amplified by Inéz’s tender, raw vocal delivery.
“crystallized” sees Summit experiment with a different offshoot of his sound, one with high emotional replay value and an ability to thrive well beyond the club and festival circuit. “I wanted to bring back the energy of the blog house era with a fresh, modern twist. Lyrically, it’s about how crying can be freeing – a way to release pain and feel renewed," he tells Beatportal.
“Been very in my head about releasing this one and trying something new, but I’m stoked to finally share [with you] all,” Summit shared in an Instagram Story announcing the song's release. Listen below.
The single both follows and strikes a contrast with Summit’s June collaboration with Gorgon City, “Is Everybody Having Fun?” It's also his second time working with German singer-songwriter Inéz, who recently featured on his March single, "light years."
Soon to be a highlight of Summit's set at Experts Only Festival NYC's debut from September 20 through 21, “crystallized” is out now via Experts Only. Buy it on Beatport.
