Letter from the CEO: Embracing New Genres
A letter from our CEO for all the genre-blending DJs out there.
Dear Beatport Community,
Beatport has always been the place for DJs to discover and connect with the music that moves them. With new personalisation tools and our commitment to curation across 36+ electronic sub-genres, we can now open the door to more genres without losing the digging experience you love.
Beginning in September, we're expanding our catalogue to bring you even more sounds that inspire creativity from electronic favourites to open-format genres like Hip-Hop, R&B, Pop, Latin, Caribbean, and African. You will see an increasing amount of this new catalogue rolling out over the next few months in its own dedicated area of the Beatport store, Mobile App and Beatport DJ.
This decision was made together with our DJ, artist, and label communities and reflects how today's DJs are blending styles and expanding boundaries. Together, we believe we have created more value for our customers at no additional cost. Here are some additional details:
- Genres Being Added: Hip-Hop, R&B, Pop, Latin, Caribbean, and African.
- Where to Find Them: A new dedicated 'Open-Format' section on the Beatport Store and Mobile App.
- When: New catalogue will roll out gradually over the next few months.
- Charts: These genres will have their own "Open-Format Top 100" (launching later this year) and will not appear in the Beatport Global Top 100 or Hype charts.
- Streaming Access: Beatport Streaming subscribers can access these genres at no extra cost via the Beatport Mobile App, Beatport DJ, and integrations with leading DJ software and hardware.
- Beatsource: Will remain available for open-format DJs and will continue to offer exclusive DJ Edits and remixes from world-renowned artists like MEDUZA, A-Trak, Wuki, and Deorro, and many more.
Our goal is to make Beatport the ultimate destination for all DJs, whatever their style. Whether you're mixing underground house, global beats, or chart-toppers, you'll find it here.
