Boris Brejcha is celebrating 10 years of FCKNG SERIOUS fittingly: with new music.
The four-track EP, FCKNG SERIOUS – TEN YEARS, is the ribbon atop a defining decade during which Brejcha’s label tirelessly championed artist-first music, empowering producers to release music exactly how they wanted to, without compromise. The German imprint’s subversive tradition continues with the anniversary project, born from a novel “Compilation Dice Roll” approach that randomly paired six artists – Ann Clu and Moritz Hofbauer, Deniz Bul and Julian Wassermann, and Brejcha and Frieder & Jakob – to create three flavorful tracks. Listen below.
Sonically, the EP embodies the invention and range for which FCKNG SERIOUS has built a reputation since 2015. While “CPU Goes Wrong” leans into a glitchy, brooding brand of techno laced with alien-like bleeping, “Code” picks up the pace, culminating in a spry, agile, and altogether atmospheric shade of FCKNG SERIOUS sound.
It’s only right that Brejcha closes out the affair, and he does so with pomp and circumstance (aka, an original and an extended mix of “+100”). Polished and precise, this final cut cheekily nods to lofty guest list requests with a vocal that asks, “Hey, I’m on my way. Can you put me on the guest list? It’s going to be me, plus 100.”
But who could blame them – at this point in FCKNG SERIOUS’ trajectory, of course everyone wants to attend.
