First off, congratulations on hitting Beatport #1! How did it feel when you first found out, and have you had a chance to celebrate?

Honestly, I was mind-blown. It doesn’t happen often that tracks in my genre hit the Beatport #1. I am very grateful to everyone who supported the release and made it what it is today. We will be doing a pop-up party in Manchester to celebrate the #1. Who better to celebrate this win with than the people who made it happen!

Looking back, what do you think made "Get Stupid" connect so strongly with both DJs and dance floors?

I have to give credit to the original, “Get A Lil’ Stupid,” from the rap group B.M.W. The vocal has such a nice texture; it’s hip, housey, and fun without being cheesy. The organ bassline also really gets people going. I can’t get enough of the crowds singing along to the melody.

How did you get linked up with tszr for the record?

After the first clips started going viral, I knew this track had some serious potential. tszr really seemed like the right home for it, so I sent it to the A&R straight away. Funny enough, it turned out that the A&R had tried reaching out about the track at the same time without seeing my email. I guess you could say it was meant to be!

The track’s gone viral this summer with huge festival moments. Was there one crowd reaction that really told you this was something special?

The moment I realized this record was special was actually on the first play. The first time I played “Get Stupid” was at ALISHA’s Unlish show at the  Secret Warehouse in Manchester. I made the track that week, and at the time, I really wasn’t sure about it. I had made it quite quickly, and compared to my previous releases, it was different. I felt it might have been too simple and reached too far away from the more melodic tracks I was making at that moment.

My best friend Jasper heard me making the track and convinced me to finish it and play it that weekend. The reaction in the Warehouse was insane; it caught on immediately. Looking back now, the track wasn’t too simple; sometimes, less is just more.

Now that Get Stupid is a certified Beatport #1, what’s next for you? Do you have any goals you've set for yourself?

I am really looking forward to the upcoming plans me and my team have been working on. From music releases to the headline shows, we are planning everything; it is all very exciting. I can’t wait to share what we have in store!

My goal would be to really focus on the touring, as there are still lots of countries that have shown lots of online support and love, but I haven’t visited. My goal would be to reach as many of those places as I can to play for those fans as well!
