Charlotte de Witte is throwing it back with a bang. Her latest release on Époque – the label she launched for modern reworks of ‘90s and early 2000s rave staples – sees her take on Scoop’s 1999 anthem “Drop It,” and the result is a proper dance floor weapon. Listen below.
“‘Drop It’ is one of those tracks that never really left the dance floor,” Charlotte says. “Reworking it for Époque felt like a tribute to a timeless moment in rave history. This one’s for the dancers, then and now.”
The original, written by Belgian producers Daniel Maze and Jan Vervloet, is pure '90s joy – pounding drums, staccato synths, and that iconic Otis Redding sample. Charlotte’s version cranks it up: faster, tougher, more acidic, but still full of that cheeky rave energy. It’s built to tear through summer festivals and sweaty warehouse sets alike. An old-school gem with a new-school bite.
