Sofia Kourtesis returns with 'Volver' – a stunning new six-track EP on Ninja Tune that celebrates identity, resilience, and the power of community coming together on the dance floor.

Sofia Kourtesis is back with Volver – a deeply personal and emotionally charged six-track EP, out now on Ninja Tune. The Berlin-based, Peruvian-born DJ/producer and activist pours her heart into this one, blending her signature uplifting grooves with raw reflections on womanhood, connection, and identity.
Foraging for stellar samples and injecting rhythmic joy, soaring vocals and piano house perfection into every ounce of the EP, its some of her sunniest, most dance-oriented work to date.
A stand out of the record is “Unidos,” a collab with her longtime friend and electronic icon Daphni. It’s warm, punchy, and full of life – just like everything Sofia touches. The whole project moves from solitude to sisterhood, through sensuality, and into empowerment, all while paying tribute to the LGBTQ+ community and the trans women who've inspired her. “They bring light to the most vulnerable, even in the darkest places,” she says. This year’s been big for Sofia – she kicked off 2025 with a headline show at KOKO in London, lit up stages in Australia with Rüfüs Du Sol, and wowed the crowds at Lightning in a Bottle. She also just performed a secret DJ set at Junction 2, bringing immaculate vibes to Beatport's new touring container stage, The Block.
