Brazilian DJ and producer Curol takes another bold step in solidifying her artistic identity with the release of “Carranca”, a powerful collaboration with NenaHalena and vocalist Victória dos Santos.

Released via her own label, Nature Recordings, the track arrives at a pivotal moment in her career, following international highlights including performances at Ushuaïa Ibiza, DGTL Amsterdam, and her debut at Tomorrowland Belgium on the Crystal Garden stage.

“Carranca” is steeped in ancestral symbolism. The word refers to traditional carved guardian figures widely used in Brazilian culture to ward off bad spirits and negative energy. Once seen at the prow of riverboats, today they also stand at the doors of homes — powerful symbols of spiritual protection and resistance.

The song draws from this imagery, echoing the lyric:
“Carranca na porta de casa / protege o Nêgo de mau olhado,”
blending ancestral reverence with the pulse of the drum and a message rooted in cultural pride and self-defense.

Sonically, the track merges powerful vocals with hypnotic Afro House rhythms, creating a space where identity and rhythm meet in full force.

Producer NenaHalena, who co-wrote the track, revealed on social media that the creative process began in Berlin and was completed in Brazil.
“From inception in Berlin to finishing in Brazil, Carranca is here,” he wrote, underscoring the cross-cultural essence of the collaboration.

The release dropped just a few days before Curol’s debut at Tomorrowland on July 27, marking a new high point in her international journey.

Supported by a growing list of renowned artists like Keinemusik, Black Coffee, Benny Benassi, and Sofi Tukker, Curol continues to shape a path that’s both deeply personal and globally relevant.

As the founder of Nature Recordings, Curol is shaping a label that authentically merges Brazilian identity, ancestral depth, and contemporary electronic music.

“Carranca” captures this vision with strength and symbolism, reinforcing her position as one of the most powerful and distinctive voices in Brazil’s electronic music scene today.
