Ajamu Kambon to Receive Inaugural Afro House Label Maverick Award at HollyShorts Film Festival
On August 12th, Ajamu Kambon — CEO, Owner, and Co-Founder of Deep Root Tribe and Deep Root Records — will be accepting the first ever Afro House Label Maverick Award on behalf of his record label at the prestigious Oscar-qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival, during their Music Honorees Award Category, taking place at the TCL Chinese Theatres in Los Angeles, California.
This year's edition of the festival celebrates House and Afro House music, genres that are core to Deep Root Tribe’s identity. This recognition highlights Kambon’s contributions to the growth of these sounds across the globe.
The 21st edition of the Film Festival is set to run from August 7th to 17th, showcasing a star-studded lineup that includes Idris Elba, Stormzy, Michael Madsen, Viola Davis, Stephen Fry, and more.
In addition to the honoring, Ajamu will also participate in a Music Industry Panel hosted by HollyShorts and leading production company Framework, where he will be joined by other industry names, like Karaba, Mathematics from Wu-Tang, Dr. Chaii, and Bantu.
