2025 was a historic year for Tomorrowland for more than one reason, including Laidback Luke’s supersized b2b involving 16 DJs – the largest in the festival's history.
The SUPER YOU&ME b2b was “basically a Boiler Room setup but with DJs only,” Luke said in a video posted to his Instagram, which showed him in a superhero-style jumpsuit, surrounded by a crowd of DJs sporting domino masks. Among them were the Bassjackers, Goodboys, Sander van Doorn, Dannic, Firebeatz, Yves V, Wiwek, Abel The Kid, Mike Cervello, MĪMĪ x FY, Mark Roma, James Carter, Yamo, Jared, and Ocsav.
The whimsical SUPER YOU&ME concept dates back to 2008, when the “Show Me Love” producer debuted it at Paradiso in Amsterdam. In the years after he launched the show, Luke furthered the intersection of comic culture and dance music by collaborating with the late Stan Lee – the co-creator of iconic characters like Spider-Man and Hulk– to design custom superhero jumpsuits for his sets.
I wanted to combine feeling like a superhero and DJing,” says Luke. “For every Tomorrowland, I would have a new custom suit. It all came from that feeling of wanting to be larger than life on stage and to share that energy with the crowd, hence Super YOU, and me.”
In addition to creating a fun, high-energy environment for attendees' inner children to come out to play, SUPER YOU&ME helped position what was then the next generation of dance/electronic talent. Its 2009 Miami Music Week party was notably Avicii's first-ever show. Across its ensuing editions at festivals including EDC and Creamfields, among others, SUPER YOU&ME welcomed artists like The Chainsmokers, Tchami, and DJ Snake early in their careers, fulfilling the prophecy Luke set for the series: “It’s about the energy, but also about lifting others up, giving a stage to the next wave of talent.”
Following its return and subsequent exposure to a new generation of dance fans at Tomorrowland, SUPER YOU&ME will fly to San Diego’s Parq Nightclub for a July 25 show during Comic-Con weekend before heading to Tomorrowland Brazil.
