FISHER and bbyclose’s new single, “Blackberries,” is ripe for heavy rotation. After making the rounds across dance floors, like Ibiza’s [UNVRS], where FISHER holds court every Thursday, “Blackberries” now rolls on to digital streaming platforms, leaving a sticky, sweet trail in its wake.
bbyclose’s vocals recall another fruit, serving as the cherry atop the song’s smooth, rolling bass, chunky rhythm, and glossy, airy groove. The one-off, which is just as dulcet as its name suggests, marks the BRIT Award-nominated singer-songwriter’s latest stride into dance/electronic territory; listeners may recognize bbyclose from “On & On” (Sub Focus), “Friday I’m in Luv” (Alok and Alan Fitzpatrick), and “Dream Come True” (Felix Jaehn). Listen below.
“Blackberries” is out now via Catch & Release and is sure to linger in listeners’ minds the same way the fruit it’s named for stains fingers.
